my little brother had mono when he was 12. it depleted him. he was so fragile. I remember him having to take pills every 4 hours and he barely had the strength to swallow. it was awful.

of course shane is a finely tuned athletic machine. I'm sure he's a much better position to recover so best of luck to him.

I was on another board reading the discussion. It seems that having mono effects your spleen. Any hit to the spleen can have devastating long term effects. That's why football players with mono are more apt to sit for the season. They are more susceptible to a debilitating injury since they get hit so often.

I am in no way trying to argue Go_Blue but what about Jason Witten who hurt his spleen in the off-season and still played, a lesser amount, in the first two games of the season?

I read that the virus was not "in his spleen" so that is why he tried to play this last week but could not finish the first half.
