The "bumper" of the helmet, as it is known by, has read Michigan since the 80's.

Per a photo posted by a player on Twitter last night, and picked up by many others, that area of the helmet will now feature simply the block M.

I have to assume Brandon was behind this. Or at least he had a major say. That said, I don't mind this particular change but I'm beginning to wonder what Brandon is going to dick with next.

I get it... the Block M is the brand logo. Brandon has been the king of expanding the brand. That said, I just fear he's going to change something (i.e. uniform) that ends up p!ssing off the fan base.

Don't worry, the bumper will actually read Dave Brandon at some point...I'm guessing by the 2020 season.

I think the Michigan looks better, don't see why the change. Michigan just looked more balance, but What I really like to see is win on the field , hell it could have a pink background if they win..

Looks good in this video. Most won't even notice during game play.

I guess as long as they don't F with the wing I'll be fine.

Never mind, I think i'd be fine seeing the colors changed a bit. dark, midnight metallic blue and metallic maize (i.e. sparkly helmets) is about as far as I can go.

BTW eggo, The wing has been "effed" with as you say.

There have been several iterations I believe. Some have the wings meeting in the middle of the back,

A change to the winged helmet Moorhe10

some with them meeting at the bottom of the back

A change to the winged helmet 2012mi11

and then some where they don't meet at all. (I believe they currently do not meet in the back.)

not to mention I also believe the wing in the front has been changed a couple times.

Joe, thanks for the link, cool to see all the changes thru the yrs.

Minor changes are fine, as already mentioned above, don't mess with the wing.

Don't do what WV has occasionally done, yellow jerseys with blue pants.

I know you guys think I'm stodgy about some Michigan football traditions, but I wish for an end to the gimmicky uniforms. Show some class.

Well, this change to the winged helmet isn't gimmicky.

I'm not a fan of gimmicky uniforms either, though.

Pretty minor, though I slightly prefer the old use of Michigan instead of the M here. Pales in comparison to the Bumblebee uniforms.

That's what I'm talking about! A little tinkering with the winged helmet is one thing, but those unis looked clownish.
On a side note, let's all hope for an injury-free month of practice....

I heard everyone is looking great. They are working hard and all the time they spent, semi-individually, working in the off-season is evident. leaders are emerging, and there is a greater level of enthusiasm than in recent years!

Ditto woody plus I hear there is MUCH better teamwork this year.

Reading between all the lines I get that Lewan "could have" was a fucking prima donna and somewhat of a cancer in the locker room.

This is only MHO gleaned from everything I read and hear about leadership and teamwork missing from last year's team.

And even though there are still questions I think the offensive line will be satisfactory this year. Maybe not fabulous but absolutely an Nth degree over the last couple of years.

I agree it sounds good though I suspect last year's comments at this time sounded pretty good too.
