Not sure why this stood out to me but looking over the roster on MgoBlue I just realized that there are two JRs (Spike and Caris) and one SR (Beilfeldt) on the team. Everyone else is FR and SO.

No Morgan seasoned veteran type leader this year. I'm not sure about the other teams in the B1G but our youth probably makes us one of the, if not the, youngest team in the conference.

A lot of raw material for the best college basketball coach in the country to develop. They'll be fine, playing at least one year above their class by season's end.

I wish Horford would have stayed. Still don't get what he was thinking.

The great news is that we have experience and talent where it counts. Michigan's offense is very guard oriented and Michigan brings back one of the best backcourts in the country.

2012 - 2013 - 2014
Burke (So) - Walton (Fr) - Walton (So)
Stauskas (Fr) - Stauskas (So) - LeVert (Jr)
Hardway (Jr) - LeVert (So) - Irvin (So)

Backup:
Albrecht (Fr) - Albrecht (So) - Albrecht (Jr)

The front court is going to be incredibly raw and frustrating at times, but in Beilein's system this can be overcome. Morgan and Horford were both serviceable as freshmen, and that's all we really need our bigs to do.

I don't remember the exact timing of him leaving, as to whether he thought McGary was coming back at that point. I do remember he announced the transfer before we knew anything about McGary. I also have heard he didn't feel that Beilein's system showcased his skills very well.

The problem was that his skills were pretty limited, he played so much worse defense than Jordan, a better shot blocker and OK rebounder, but lousy on the rest of his defense and he didn't run the floor very well.
