| I know this has been talked about a lot on this board on others but WITHOUT FIGHTING what are your guys's views on what the coaching staff is doing with these decommitments? This has given us a lot of negative attention with the public and more importantly 2017 recruits. Whats your take on this situation? | |

| I think it has zero impact on 2017 recruits, and I also think once the ink is dry next week on the LOIs the story will be over, except for some Internet trolls that are fans of other teams. | |

I agree with Fish. IMO the biggest factor with 2017 is how we perform on the field in 2016.

| My issue is that they were all Hokes commit, and should have been in conversation before now. I understand that The commits were before Jim was there but I believe he should have said or done something so they understand. _________________ "HAIL HAIL MICHIGAN" Wanted John Harbaugh but I'll settle for JIM WITH AN ENTHUSIASM UNKNOWN TO MANKIND GOOO BLUE The Curse of Rich Rod

| Getting better recruits that they initially though, and purging out Hoke's leftovers. | |

| I agree with pretty much everything written.
And I don't give a rat's ass about the negative press.
2017 recruits won't care if they are good enough. The only ones that will care are marginal anyway.

| "Just win, baby", and it won't have any impact come the next recruiting cycle.
That said, I'm starting to think Harbaugh is taking this "no fucks given" approach because he doesn't see himself in AA for a very long time. That's just a theory I've been kicking around for the last 12 hours. _________________ "I don't get sick. I don't observe major holidays. I'm a jackhammer." - Jim Harbaugh & Dwight Schrute

| Admin, don't like your theory, get that out of your head! haha!
My 2 cents, the SEC, I'll include Florida St. as well, have been over signing recruits, grayshirting, questionable recruiting tactics. I'm guessing Urban did it at Florida and is doing it now at OSU. Harbaugh is thinking if M wants to sit at the big boy table, he needs to do whatever it takes to get the best recruits. If that means hurting a few kids egos, so be it.
With that said we can all agree we NEVER want JH or M to do anything illegal when it comes to recruitng.
I agree with Artist, Harbaugh should have communicated this with Hokes recruits. Now maybe he did, especially with Swenson, these kids are simply butt hurt.
As for 2017 recruits, Aren't these kids and parents going to ask JH, Am I gurarateed a scholly or Am I a plan B? Question for Joe, don't you need some of the 3 star marginal athletes? Dantonio has done just fine with 3 star recruits, (as painful as it is to say) What happens in 17' if that 4 or 5 star kid doesn't sign & the 3 star kid doesn't want to be plan B so he commits elsewhere? At the last minute M is scrambling to fill class.
Not saying its going to happen, Harbaugh is doing just fine so far. Just thinking out loud.
Of course beating sparty & OSU, winning B1G title in 16', final 4 berth will do wonders for recruitng.

| Well booboo, I never said we can't use some 3* guys. A lot of great players were 3*.
All I said was the headlines, "Michigan gets STUD linebacker" would lead most to believe the kids are more than 3*. That's all I'm saying.
I would use the word STUD for 5* and most 4* even. But 3*? Especially when the kid's offer sheet is BC, Syracuse and Temple. (those are just examples)
Now, if a kid is a 3* and his offer sheet is Fla, Fla St, Auburn, USC and Oregon then I'd offer leeway.
It's picking nits really. I don't know exact numbers but I believe a kid can be in the top 125 in the country and be a 3* so who knows?

| Sometimes, on 247 it seems to me, any Michigan get is a "stud". I agree w/Joe, the term is overused. | |

| Maybe 247 is run by a bunch of carpenters? _________________ 'eggo denoted me a First ballot Hall of Famer! - sandyeggo_blue wrote:

I think this is more of a product of two things. 1. Harbaugh is still weeding through recruits that Hoke recruited. Next year it will be guys that he recruited. I think you will see less of him pulling offers from guys that he recruited. 2. I think that he is also a victim of 10 bad years of football. As others as stated, if they have a good season this year. He will more likely be able to cherry pick the guys that he wants instead of shuffling through players.
