20 wins...

...with 10 (so far) in the B1G, a comeback from -13, so why hasn't anyone who felt this team would be lucky to win 18 games this season been on the board about last night's game? This team will have 22 wins before going into the Dance, and without their best player. How about a little credit where it's due?

Because nobody on this forum give a flying fish hook about the Basketball team . Since Jim Hatbaugh has been hired they all have stars in their eye about football. There are 37 post about the 2017 recruiting class in football and 2 about Basketball in the last week. even though were are on the verge of March madness. Beilien will get away with murder and sub par records now that we are a Football school again. By the way I wrote them off early last nigt . That was a gutty performance MAAR saved the night and Belien sitting Robinson for the hot hand of Dawkins was a bold move.

JB hinted the other day that Spike is weighing whether he might suit up one more time, or possibly even take a redshirt. I can't recall where I saw that, probably in the Freep.

ok well there is an issue? We have 3 new VC coming in. and If Spike comes back and there is no attrition , We only have space for 1 also I heard that La:bounce: vert may be able to red shirt if he doesn't return.  Anyway what about those recruits.

LaVert can't redshirt because he played a conference game, I believe.

No I think there is a rule about how many games otherwise spike would be out too

Here's some info I found.

Basic Qualifications

To qualify for a medical redshirt, a basketball player must sustain an “incapacitating injury or illness.” The injury or illness does not have to be related to basketball, but must take place after the first day of classes in the athlete’s senior year of high school. To gain a medical redshirt for a specific season, the athlete’s illness or injury must occur before the first game of the second half of the team’s schedule. If the team plays an odd number of games, the exact midseason contest is considered part of the second half. For example, if a basketball team plays 25 games, the injury or illness must occur before the start of the team’s 13th game. Games played in postseason tournaments, such as a conference tournament or the NCAA or NIT tournaments, count among the team’s total games played.

Games Played

To gain a medical redshirt, the athlete cannot compete in more than 30 percent of her team’s games within a season, not counting contests officially designated as scrimmages or exhibition games. When such computations are made, fractions are rounded up. For example, if a team plays 27 games, the exact 30 percent mark is 8.1. For the purposes of medical redshirt eligibility, therefore, the player may compete in nine games and still be eligible for a medical redshirt.

Good information. Okay then LaVert because he played in the minny game I believe would nit be eligible to medically redshirt if I read that correct. Spike would be able to do that. Now still we have 3 Verbal commits, with 2 spots open supposing Spike does not come back . any ideas what Michigan does.

Good grief, totally dropped the ball on that one. I forgot all about Purdue.

I would have to dig to figure out if the last game he played in before that was 1/2 way through the season or not.

I'm not that ambitious. lol

Spike may suit up again, but I believe it will be as a grad transfer at another school.
