OT: Michigan Hockey

Since we casually keep track of how the hocky team is doing I'll let you know that the hockey team was destroyed tonight 7-4 by of all teams ohio state. The game was not without some questionable officiating tonight but even then Michigan should have won. They played well for the first 10 minutes of the game but the next 30 killed us. They played with absolutely zero intensity tonight. It was almost as if they thought they should win just by throwing their sticks out on the ice. Horrible.

In other news a somewhat reputable Michigan Hockey insider has said what we all figured to be true: This will be Coach Berenson's last year behind the bench. He's walking away from the game.

Looked in vain for TV coverage -don't feel to bad that I could not see it.

Me too, I was forced to listen to WTKA. I was considering going, glad that I didn't waste my time and money.

They lost again today at ohio state. Thankfully Penn State lost on Saturday so they are still 3 points behind Michigan. The final bye comes down to next weekend at Yost against Penn State. If Michigan takes 2 of the 6 possible points next weekend they are the number 2 seed. Because B1G TEN hockey is different than the NHL (and the rest of college hockey) I guess I should explain. Each game is worth a total of 3 points. A win in regulation or in OT is worth 3 points. If a game is styill tied after the end of a 5 minute OT period each team receives a point with a shoot-out coming to decide the 3rd point. In the NHL a point is awarded to each team at the end of regulation with an extra-point going to the eventual winner in either the 5 minute OT period od shoot-out if it goes that far. A win in regulation is worth 2 points. The rest of collge hockey (other than the B1G) has 2 point games and no shoot-out. Points only matter for conference games and the shoot-outs in the B1G are not recognized by the NCAA. Games that go to a shoot-out end as a tie according to the NCAA. Now that you are thoroughly confused have a good day.

I hope they are not playing themselves out of an at large bid.

Very disappointed in the end of this season . It appears they are looking ahead to the NCAA'a and are not focused on what needs to be done 1 game at a time.
