Wow, someone admitted what we already know. Whoopdie do. Still, if you don't want to play, don't play. If you do want to play, don't bitch about the effects when you are done.

This is basically the first time anyone high up in the NFL has acknowleged it existing. This was a calculated move on the NFL's part to get them off from future law-suits but bthe thing is they'll ned to repeat it with every question. You know reporters, they'll ask the same question in a thouand different ways. How long until someone from the NFL front office pulls a Marchawn Lynch?

'fish, you seem to be minimizing the effects of a neurological injury. I do not think that is very wise.

Never said it wasn't serious, all I've said is I don't care. If you are playing in this day and age, and end up with brain injury it is nobodies fault but the player. They know what can happen.

Life is a series of choices, and your choices have consequences, the NFL doesn't force players to play, so the NFL isn't to blame.

The only responsibility the league has is to pay the players and educate them on the potential problems.

But it doesn't matter if they deny or admit. The NFL has put in place new safety measures, so who cares if they say there is a link. Makes no difference

it's pretty much common sense anyway..if you run your head into a wall thousands of times over a period of time, you might eventually get headaches or brain damage.

i knew kids who weren't allowed to play football in the 80's because their parents suspected the obvious.  it's always been clearly a risk, so people should not be shocked by health issues -especially NFL players who put every steroid, hormone, pain killer, and supplement, into their bodies, on top of crashing into each other three days a week..

They sold their souls for millions, so eventually it's time to pay the pied piper.

Yes it does matter. They are the employer and are responsible for their employees. Since they denied the reality of the issue before but vare now they are admitting responsibility.

If your employer says there is no link you have no choice but to believe them. The players union has been bringing up the issue for decades yet the NFL continued to deny it. They are liable for all injuries prior to9 when they admitted the link. It's still kinda sketchy after they admitted the link but I think they may be off of the hook for future claims. The settlement, which was brought into question, will be under immense scrutiny now.

This isn't the 1930s, there is no way today's players don't know the risks.

Hmmm, I always hear old farts saying that kids know nothing today. We've already had this discussion, you lost. Give it up.

First of all, you lost. I'm right. It's called being accountable for your own choices. No one forces anyone to play a sport, so if a person chooses to play a sport and is injured in any way, to include brain injuries, it is that person's fault and no one else's.

When are you going to see reality? It isn't the NFL's fault, it isn't the college's fault, it isn't the coach's fault. It is the player.

The school, team, NFL have the responsibilities. To provide the best equipment and rules to make it not a dirty game. They provide that, so now it is on the player.

This issue, and the solution, has been fully discussed and addressed elsewhere. I refer you to "South Park", Season 16, Episode 8.

No offense but you are naive.  For years players and other organizations told the NFL that football was dangerous.  Yet the NFL said, "Nuh uh" and ingored the problem.  The NFL conitinued to let teams pump injured players full of drugs and "rub some dirt on it" just to get players back out on the field.  If they did not go back out on the field they would be cut.  Whatr you are failing to realize is that this is these players jobs.  When your boss tells you to do something you do it unless you do not care about your job.

What is even more moronic is you saying it's the players decision.  DUDE, THEY HAD A BRAIN INJURY, their minds are affected by that.  Duh, did you have one?

No offense but you are wrong.

People need to be responsible for their own choices. We do not need a nanny state.

If the players knew it, and knew the NFL knew it but was doing nothing about it, but the players chose to play anyway in exchange for pecuniary gain, how do the injuries they know could result  become the fault of the NFL?

The NFL insisted that there was no problem. Millions of dollars will sway you....

NFL's fault.

uh no, there is no such thing as having "no choice." life is full of choices. if an accountant is told to cook the books by his boss, he has two choices: sign off and hope he doesn't commit career suicide and end up in prison, or keep his integrity and seek work elsewhere.

The NFL is not a career. It's a short term contracting gig. No one is forcing them to do this. You shouldn't compare this to slavery or some Nike sweatshop job in Vietnam where there is much less choice. These guys are paid handsomely knowing the risks. I'd stop whining about concussions and posing as this gay whistle blower about stuff that everyone is already informed about.

I swear to God, why don't you people listen to me?

I have said multiple times previously no one thinks that they are going to get hurt. These players have been praised and coddled their entire lives and everyone thinks "It won't happen to me." It's a fact! Take an intro. Psychology class please.

And mgo, yes it is a career. What on earth makes you say that it isn't? The only think that I can think of to justify your comment is petty jealousy. They do not know the risks, no one does until it is too late (or at least only a select few people have a clue). I swear to God you people are incredibly frustrating. I put the information in front of you but you refuse to acknowledge it. It's like you are republicans or something, well we know 'fish is.

Coming, this "they don't know the risk" droning of yours is just idiotic. Any person with a whit of intelligence knows that repeated blows and head collisions can be traumatizing. You talk like these football players totally lack basic intelligence. I knew that when I was five years old. Just give it a rest. We all are fully aware of your opinions.

You know "something" might happen but you honestly don't know until you have cared for a family member who has experienced it (and even then you don't really know).

Trust me, and I pray none of you has to find out.

Sorry, your opinion that players think it won't happen to them, is not a fact.  Psychology does not teach logic and probability as well as Stats 101 and Intro to Western Philosophy do.  I suggest at least taking these basic courses before claiming to be a Michigan grad.

And no, the NFL is not a career in the traditional sense.  It's safe to assume that players know the average "career" is no longer than four years; and the odds are stacked against them.  If any player doesn't know that then he's living under a rock.  It's a contracting gig where people can earn fast money.

Wes Welker has had over a dozen concussions, and he was still trying to come back against the advice of teams and doctors.  Do you think Welker was unaware of concussions?  Why are you so concerned about the health of players like Welker who were paid millions?  I'm sure there is more important stuff in your life to focus your energy on.

Not sure what this has to do with head injuries? Also, I'm not a republican. I'm a registered independent if you are so interested in my political leanings.
