My interest in pro football has never been the same as my interest in the college game. In recent years mainly as a concession to my wife who leaves me alone on football Saturdays, I've hardly watched any regular season NFL games. I've only seen parts of the playoffs this year.
I usually watch the Superbowl though even though I refuse to watch the ads. I'll also skip the halftime show unless its someone from the old days who plays good music. This year isn't one of those good music years.
Tom Brady was a great QB at UM. The NFL scouts totally blew it with him and he was a steal in the 6th round. I posted after he led UM past Bama that he should be a top 5 pick and that he would beat out the kid from KSU who was drafted high the year before by the Patriots as the successor to Bledsoe.
But frankly that was 20 years ago. I really don't think UM fans should keep claiming credit for him. I like to watch him because he's a fantastic QB, not because he played at UM 20 years ago. I liked Otto Graham, Bobby Layne, Joe Montana Steve Young Peyton Manning Bret Favre Drew Brees etc etc not because of where they went to college but because they were great QBs.
So tomorrow I'll watch Brady because he is the GOAT and not because he went to UM.
