I don't see a problem with it.

Have been to about 8 games at the Horseshoe, 4 of those were Mich-OSU, the other 4 were a mix of non-conf and conf games. Have been to a fair number of other venues and so I have some basis of comparison. OSU already had the drunkest fan base I have seen, so I don't see how this can help. True that before game drinking isn't affected, but in game drinking will be (while some sneak alcohol in, many more did not), and while a big revenue shot in the arm for OSU, I expect the crowds to be out of control.

I'm just patiently waiting for Michigan to follow suit on this.

The fact is, as 'shoes points out, there's a massive amount of revenue to be earned by selling booze. The average fan in Michigan Stadium can handle an extra couple of drinks throughout the game. Certainly there will be some drunk folks that get kicked out, but I'm willing to tolerate those few knuckleheads just so I can keep my buzz going during the game.

Because let's face it, when you drink pretty heavily at the tailgate (as I tend to do cough cough), the game itself is a long, sobering headache.

I'll make a point here. Most people drink excessively at tailgates, that's not going to change. However the 2 1/2-3 hours in the stadium makes for quality time sobering up thus making it possible for most to drive home. Those who can't hang around longer with the people who want to avoid the traffic. I'm not a fan of it although I was one to think that the devil incarnate, DB Brandon, would be the one to bring it out. There is money to be made doing it but I still don't like it. Oh well, I mean nothing.

After the games the players would fold up their leather helmets and go home. Ha

Lots of Boones Farm in the Big House. Late in the 4th quarter to a chant of Boones Farm, Boones Farm, Boones Farm, the student section would pass up empty bottles to the top row where they were pitched over the wall.
