He wasn't impaired, per the police officer at the scene.
It's a weird story, but let's reserve judgement until more details emerge. I think Denard Robinson has earned that much (especially considering your point that he was always on the up and up while in Ann Arbor).

Reports say he fell asleep, wasn't impaired. Relax, people sometimes fall asleep while driving, I know I have on some long drives.

Fish, agree with you. The one point I keep reading is why was he driving at 4:15-4:20 am? Where's he going or coming from at that time? Its the nothing good can happen after midnight thinking. Who's the young lady in the car with him, friend, girl friend? Not that it is any of our business.
Admin agree I'll reserve judgement until/if anything comes out of this story.
