| 2017 #1 overall QB Hunter Johnson is visiting Michigan this weekend. kind of impromptu from what I can tell. I think the satellite camps and the sound mind sound body camp have really put UM in the spot light.
IMO there are about a dozen kids that could drop for UM at any moment. hunter johnson isn't one of them but to get a visit is half the battle. I think he ends up at northwestern of ND. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| Are all these QB recruits a double edged sword? What I mean is, sure Michigan is an attractive destination for a high profile QB, but with that long depth chart it seems like they are already over stocked.
Is it better to have 3 or 4 three and four star QB prospects, or one five star? Now that I type that, the answer looks obvious.

| I suppose you can never have too many horses in the stable.
Still, Johnson isn't my favorite QB for the class. At this point, based off what little I've seen, I still like Dylan McCaffrey.
He has great blood lines (dad is Ed McCaffrey). Both brothers play in college. If you remember we recruited Christian really hard but he signed with Stanford (and then we lost out on Artavis Scott to Clemson, UGGHHH).
if you get a chance look at Dylan's hudl video. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| DPJ - cant say it enough how badass this kid is. Easily the MOST important recruit for UM in 2017.
just became the first junior to become the opening SPARQ champ.
DPJ is most likely the best athlete in the nation and that includes the 2016 class.
A must get in 2017. He grew up a huge gator fan. I really think it will be O$U and Florida in the end but a really good season this year could help. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| OK, I just never heard of him before today and it says that he is the #1 recruit, I thought that was Gary (services differ I know but I've never heard of Jones, granted I don't consider myself a recruiting guru). _________________ 'eggo denoted me a First ballot Hall of Famer! - sandyeggo_blue wrote:

| He's widely regarded as the #1 ATH. I thought the article stated that. maybe it was updated after you read and posted it.
FYI - IMO I think DPJ is going to make a serious run at the #1 overall 2017 recruit. I think he sits around #20 right now but after he demolished everyone (including the 2016'ers) at the opening he is bound to get a big bump. Plus he'll have a year to showcase his skills again and he gets another of camps to showcase as well.

| well with just over 100 offers out (by my unofficial count) and the contact period well past us I think it's time I put out a list of notable 2017 recruits.
This list only contains offers at this point. I'll try my best to keep up with risers/fallers as the next 17 months progress.
I've broken the recruits down by position.
QB - currently 7 offers out, 1 committed elsewhere Dylan McCaffrey - 4* 6'5" 200lbs PRO Littleton, CO Son of Ed McCaffrey. Brother of Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey (ormer UM target at slot receiver). Stanford has yet to offer him. Not sure why. Bodes very well for UM at this point.
Tate martell - 5* 5'11" 180lbs DUAL Las Vegas, NV
Davis Mills - 4* 6'3" 190lbs PRO Norcross, GA Stanford offerred. They could take him and leave McCaffrey for UM.
NOTE - Hunter Jonhson is probably the most polished PRO QB. He's committed to TN. Not sure if Michigan is going to continue to recruit or go after another QB.
RB - currently 13 offers out, 3 committed elsewhere Allen Stritzinger - 3* 6'0" 180lbs Warren, MI Part of the "Pipeline 9" MICHIGAN leads for his services at this point.
Kurt Taylor - 3* 5'9" 200lbs Covington, GA Mike Hart 2.0. Kurt Taylor is an absolute ROCK. It's like the hulk and Frank Gore had a child. He is a MICHIGAN lean at this point. Could be my favorite target on the board after DPJ.
FB - None
WR - currently 21 offers out, 3 committed elsewhere Donovan Peoples-Jones - 5* 6'2"192lbs Detroit, MI Part of the "Pipeline 9" Not sure where MICHIGAN stands for his services at this point. Far and away MICHIGAN's most important target of the 2017 class. He is considered the best recruit from the state in a long long time.
K.J. Hamler - 3* 5'9" 155lbs Farmington, MI Part of the "Pipeline 9" MICHIGAN probably trails MSU for his services at this point.
Osiris St. Brown - 4* 6'1" 178lbs Anaheim, CA Brother of ND WR and former UM target Equinimeous St. Brown. Two very smart brothers that come from a family that values education above all else.
NOTE: There are a ton of targets at WR. I'll try to break them down as the next year and a half goes by.
TE - currently 8 offers out, 2 committed elsewhere, 1 committed to MICHIGAN Carter Dunaway - 3* 6'6" 225lbs Bloomfield Hills, MI Part of the "Pipeline 9" and current MICHIGAN commit.
Jimmy Jaggers - 4* 6'4" 230lbs Roseville, CA A nice 2nd TE in the class since Brock Wright is committed to ND.
Brock Wright - 4* 6'4 243lbs Cypress, TX The #1 overall TE in the class. Currently committed to ND. I expect UM to continue to try to flip him.
OT - currently 16 offers out, 1 committed elsewhere JaRaymond Hall - 4* 6'5" 255lbs Oak Park, MI Part of the "Pipeline 9" MICHIGAN is currently #1 for his services at this point.
Jordan McNair - 4* 6'5" 285lbs Owings Mills, MD An O$U lean. Will be a battle for him.
NOTE: Like the WR group, there are a ton of good targets. I'll break them down as the next year and a half goes on.
OG - currently 2 offers out, 0 committed elsewhere Robery Hainsey - 4* 6'4" 265lbs Bradenton, FL
Kayden Lyles - 4* 6'3" 290lbs Scottsdale, AZ
C - currently 1 offer out, 0 committed elsewhere Cesar Ruiz - 4* 6'4" 290lbs Brdenton, FL #1 overall C. He's a MICHIGAN lean and has been for quite some time. Clearly MICHIGAN's top target at C.
DE - currently 4 offers out, 0 committed elsewhere Corey Malone-Hatcher - 4* 6'3 246lbs St Joeseph, MI Part of the "Pipeline 9" MICHIGAN is #1 for his services at this point.
Corey Bolds - 4* 6'3" 260 Paramus, NJ Another Paramus kid. He's definitely a MICHIGAN lean at this point.
DT - currently 7 offers out, 0 committed elsewhere Fred Hansard - 4* 6'4" 310lbs Princeton, NJ Gonna be a tough pull from Rutgers/PSU but MICHIGAN is really recruiting NJ well as of late.
LB - currently 8 offers out, 0 committed elsewhere
Josh Ross - 6'1" 210lbs West Bloomfield, MI Part of the "Pipeline 9" IMO MICHIGAN leads for his services at this point. Brother of current Wolverine James Ross
Drew Singleton - 6'2" 215lbs Paramus, NJ Another Paramus kid. He's seems to be a MICHIGAN lean at this point.
Jordan Anthony - 6'1" 213lbs Bradenton, FL A IMG kid I'm high on. Going to be interesting to see how our LB recruiting goes this year given the SRs we'll be losing.
CB - currently 12 offers out, 2 committed elsewhere Ambry Thomas - 4* 5'11" 165lbs Detroit, MI Part of the "Pipeline 9" MICHIGAN trails MSU for his services at this point. Will be a tought pull.
S - currently 7 offers out, 1 committed elsewhere Jaylen Kelly-Powell - 4* 6'0" 183lbs Detroit, MI Part of the "Pipeline 9" MICHIGAN leads for his services at this point.
Devon Hunter - 4* 6'3 210lbs Chesapeake, VA All around athlete. Would love to land this kid. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| Mathis is a '16 recruit so not sure why it's posted in the '17 thread.
no biggie. background on Mathis is that he is the target after upshur committed to FSU. but now with the season MICHIGAN is having nuata is actually back on the table. they are really pushing for him. My guess (and only a guess) is that mathis has a non commitable offer at this time. I can't figure out why he wouldn't have committed otherwise. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| Kurt Taylor making his fourth visit in as many months to MICHIGAN this weekend. All the way from Georgia on his own dime. A bit confused because Lorenz said recently that he wasn't entirely sure if taylor was a take at this point but there are rumors of a commit from him this weekend.
you all know how I feel about the kid. I want him in the class but I admittedly don't know the numbers or have a feel for the staff's board for 2017 just yet. I was under the impression that they were high on him because of his reported work ethic and let's be honest, just look at the kid, he's a 200lb ball of muscle. I've never seen anything like him and that includes Jabrill. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| Did any of you local guys see any Pioneer games this year and if so why did you not say anything about this kid?
Completely under my radar but I have only started to scratch the 2017 recruiting surface. the staff walked across the street and offered him today.
His highlight tape was great! He's an ATH that's for sure. He hits hard. He plays mean. He runs tough. He has great cuts and vision (especially on returns).
http://247sports.com/Player/Antjuan-Simmons-77624
I have no clue on where he wants to play. I have no idea how he feels about ND, MSU, Tenn, LSU, o$u, Ole Miss, etc (all offers).
he does say he wants to break every one of Drake's Pioneer records though. Kid has swagger for sure. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

he's our number 1 QB target for 2017. he hasn't gotten an offer from stanford and probably wont. he's a UM lock at this point but there a long way to go. he may be ending recruiting soon. btw, for those that didn't connect the dots, he's former NFLer ed mccaffrey's son and brother to stanford star christian (who we also recruited heavily a few years back) _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| 247'a #1 recruit (as of now) appears to have some interest in Michigan but does Michigan have any in him? Maize 'n Brew makes cases for not.
http://www.maizenbrew.com/2016/2/9/10943816/tmb-dylan-moses-hype-train-departures-louisiana-img-academy-darrell-funk
I only watched a first 6 minutes of his tape but to be honest I wasn't that impressed. I don't claim to be a recruiting guy but I honestly didn't see anything special in him. Don't get me wrong, he's not bad by any stretch of the imagination and that was his HS Jr. season tape but he doesn't appear aggressive enough for my taste. _________________ 'eggo denoted me a First ballot Hall of Famer! - sandyeggo_blue wrote:
