Not even in the top 25 of CFP poll, Northwestern and Iowa rated ahead of us. What is the issue Michigan lost to 2 top 10 teams I would think They should be somewhere 18-22 . Hell I know that it don't really matter , but how does that affect bowl bids. Embarassed Embarassed Evil or Very Mad

Not at all. It's four weeks to the end of the season. That's when records affect bowl bids.

Michigan is NOT bad.

Michigan just doesn't pass the "eye test"

9 weeks in and Michigan is starting it's third QB this season, a RS freshman no less.

The Mich offense ranks well below average in all categories and Michigan is sitting in fourth in the B1G east and got man handled by PSU so no surprises with the rankings here.

The flaw isn't with Michigan though, the flaw is with the comittee's "eye test". IMO there will always be an issue with the rankings until the playoffs are expanded. 5 power conferences with only 4 spots is not a recipe for success. Deserving and Best aren't always the same and when you rely on an "eye test" metric to figure it out you'll rarely get it right. O$U is prime pro and con example. They get in as a #4 seed, knock off the #1 seed Bama and win the NC in the first year. On the flip side they jump the B1G champ PSU and get shutout against eventual NC Clemson last year.

If defenses win championships, as every LOVES to point out, then Michigan should very well be ranked MUCH MUCH higher. Until they get a quality win against Wisc or O$U they likely won't pass the "eye test."

IMO even if Michigan wins at Wisc and beats O$U and then beats Wisc again in a B1G championship game they still won't get in because their opponents and wins against opponents won't pass the all mighty "eye test."

That and Michigan is now starting a RS Freshman at QB 1/2-way through the season. IMHO there is no way we win at Wiscy this year regardless of who the QB is. We do have a shot against ohio state simply due to the fact that it is THE GAME.

I would absolutely love it though if we were still alive for the B1G east title though. If that were to be the case that's our best chance IMHO.

***Hypothetical: Say all three QB's play and get injured (Speight, O'Korn, and Peters). It's late in the game and we're down by 7, does Coach Harbaugh burn McCaffrey's RS? What if we're tied or winning? I say yes to all situations but it'd be difficult.

I was looking at the rankings a little more and really think we're getting jobbed in the polls.

How many teams that are 6-3 are above us? Eggo mentioned us getting hammered at PSU but ohio just got slammed at Iowa and they didn't fall out of the top 25.

We've lost to #12 in a driving rainstorm with a second (maybe 3rd) string QB, and to #14 in a perfect storm of a night whiteout mixed with a good old fashioned ass kicking.

Shit, OkSt has 2 losses and gave up 62 fucking points in ONE GAME!

Shit!!!....

Oh well, no one fucking asks me. lmao.

Just keep winning. They'll have to notice.

Rooting for The badgers this week. Want them undefeated when we beat them.

Rooting for o hi o . I think a win by them helps more than a loss.

GO BLUE BABY!!!

****EDIT****
Also, I know our offense isn't very good but the final result is whether you score MORE than the other guy on that day.

Gonna watch us take care of Maryland this Sayerday then head to Mad-Town for a wild couple of days. Can't wait!

I agree with your O$U assessment of Michigan getting jobbed and O$U's loss at Iowa is a prime example.

It goes back to the point I was trying to make above.... Michigan doesn't pass the eye test and IMO having to pass the eye test is a major flaw in the committee's ranking system.
