Louisville dominated most of the game before UM started playing better D Mo drove to the hoop and in the end DJ made some FTS.

Trying to compare the two UM teams, IMO this year's team is much better in every way except for FT shooting which might be the downfall for this year's UM team.

Moe is 15 lbs bigger this year and just as good if not better shooting and taking the ball to the hole. Vastly better on D and rebounding.

Robinson 100% better this year.

DJ was great but Mathews plays better D and scores inside and rebounds.

Ali 2018 better than Ali 2017.

Poole, Livers better than Irvin.

Teske vs Donnal? Do I really have to comment?

Walton was the heart and soul for UM in the NCAA tourney in 2017. That said against Louisville he hit a couple threes and made some FTS. He set up Moe for several good hoops. Simpson isn't the shooter Walton was but he takes it to the hole !00% better than Walton and sets up the O just as well and plays better D. Z needs to work on his jump shots and FTs and he will be a national MVP candidate next year.

So could UM lose early? Almost impossible v Montana but Houston is a very good team. NC waits in the wings. Won't be easy but beating Neb MSU and Purdue three straight days wasn't easy either.

Regardless IMO no doubt that this year's UM team is much better than last year's.

Well, last year's team was a 7 seed that had a 10-8 conference record and came into the tourney at 24-11.  They had a road record of 3-8 and lost twice to OSU team that didn't make the NCAAs.

This year they went 13-5 in the conference and overall 28-7. 6-5 On the road. So yeah, this is a much better team.

Even knowing that th B1G is not as good this year top to bottom.  But, the top of the conference is stronger than last year.

Moe 18 better than 17
MAAR 18 better than 17
DRob 18 better than 17
Wilson 17 better than Livers 18
Matthews/Irvin is a wash
Walton 17 better than Simpson 18
Bench 18 way better than Bench 17

I was basically comparing the two UM teams as of the time of the NCAA tourney. I agree that 17 UM didn't have nearly as successful an overall season as 18, but both played their best in the BIG tourney. Hopefully 18 UM will continue its momentum in the NCAAs.

I'd take Mathews over Irvin. Mathews defends better, rebounds better, and takes it inside better Irvin better from 3 but the other stuff outweighs that IMO.

Walton and Z are tough. UM needed Walton last year because he could shoot from 3 and was the only PG really. Z plays much better D and takes it to the hoop much better. Walton slightly better rebounder . Both are very good assisters.

Agree UM has much more depth this year.
