| I think we all pretty much gave up on an at-large BCS game months ago and we're till a bit out of it but we are technically in 19th position. That being said, after we beat ohio in the toilet-bowl plus a couple teams ahead of us lose. And combine that with a potential ND-'bama NC game, maybe we sneak in the back-door at #16 and get an at-large BCS birth? Thoughts? It actually looks somewhat possible/probable. Then we'd get to hear more about "The UM bias".... _________________ 'eggo denoted me a First ballot Hall of Famer! - sandyeggo_blue wrote:

| Way too far ahead thinking but interesting none the least. Can you imagine "backing" into a BCS game again (as lil bro would put it)
a lot has to play out for that to happen (and I highly doubt it will) but the key could lie in the ACC this week.
I think it's a given that the SEC runner up should get into a BCS game.
Clemson and Florida St both have to lose this week (they play South Carolina and Florida respectively). That happens and the ACC will lose an at large and only the ACC champ will get a BCS nod.
Texas has to lose to Kansas St and Oklahoma has to lose to Ok St. That happens and the Big 12 will also probably lose an at large nod.
The Pac12 is a little hazy but I see a few scenarios. Stanford wins out they get the Rose Bowl. UCLA can play the spoiler and get in but that shouldn't happen. The civil war game can shake things up if Oregon loses.
Michigan wins out and jumps into the top 16 then maybe we'll get a nod. But I just don't see it happening. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| It's the Cap One or the Rose. Maybe the Outback, but really, I don't see any other scenario playing out. | |

| Don't really care. First we need to beat Ohio, then let the bowl officials sort it out. Frankly, I would rather be in a bowl game with opponent we can hang with than go to the Rose Bowl and watch Oregon run up and down the field on us. I guess the other thing is we once held our destiny in our own hands but its not anymore. So whatever bowl we get will be descent and then I just hope Michigan can pull off a win.
A win vs. Ohio and a win in the bowl game (regardless of the bowl) is all I have on my Christmas list.

| There is credence to the 'Michigan doesn't deserve a BCS bowl' this year, IMHO.
I simply don't think we do.
I know who we lost to, and their combined records...yada yada yada...but a three-loss team should never play in one of the top 5 postseason games.
We could end up with a BCS-style matchup, though, and play Georgia in the Capital One Bowl (my money is on this one). _________________ "I don't get sick. I don't observe major holidays. I'm a jackhammer." - Jim Harbaugh & Dwight Schrute

| That's certainly a strong possibility Admin, but according to sparty we get all of the breaks. We really haven't beaten anyone yet this year. We beat who we were supposed to and lost to who we were supposed to (granted, not how we were supposed to). But a big win versus an undefeated ohio team in the toilet-bowl (hey, ohio gets a bowl game after all this year) along with the correct domino's falling and maybe, just maybe. All we need to nbe is top 16 in the BCS standings to get an at-large bid. The Michigan name and money that follows it make it one of the top choices for Bowls. Remember, it's all about money. _________________ 'eggo denoted me a First ballot Hall of Famer! - sandyeggo_blue wrote:

| I don't disagree in that a win this weekend could propel us to a BCS game.
I just simply don't think we deserve it, with a win over an undefeated nut team or not.
Some other things need to fall our way, as well. _________________ "I don't get sick. I don't observe major holidays. I'm a jackhammer." - Jim Harbaugh & Dwight Schrute

| I read that Urban is pushing to have his team voted #1 in the AP. They are #4 right now. I think a win over the #4 (AP) team at there house could put UM into the top 16. Then if the cards fall into place it could happen.
Bo said it all.... "The Michigan name and money that follows it make it one of the top choices for Bowls. Remember, it's all about money."
For the record I still see us at the Capitol One or Outback bowl. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

For the record I still see us at the Capitol One or Outback bowl. FWIW - ESPN was showing us in Capital One playing against Johnny Football....CBS was showing in same bowl playing Ga. Go Blue!!!

| I'll take my chances versus Georgia.
I don't want to have to try and find a way to defend Johnny Football. _________________ "I don't get sick. I don't observe major holidays. I'm a jackhammer." - Jim Harbaugh & Dwight Schrute

| I'm thinking if GA wins the SEC title game, Bama gets a BCS at large. If Bama wins the SEC title game, LSU or TX A&M gets the at large. So if Bama wins, we play Ga or A&M. If GA wins we play A&M or LSU.
I think A&M would get the call to the BCS ahead of LSU because Johnny Football is all the rage this year.
