I think you mean, "A Number One-ranked team". That's their only one-hood. Year after year, pollsters vote
on their name (and perhaps their coach), not their team nor its on-court performance.

Duke deserved to be the #1 team in the nation before last night. Like it or not, and I'm not a Duke fan at all, they have the history, the traditon and the coach. Some times UM gets voted higher in the rankings in football because they are UM. They started this past season at #8, no way should they have been that high, but UM gets the votes.

Does that make it right??? (U-M similarly receiving alleged preferential treatment in football).

I'm saying with the tradition and name and record, they deserved to be #1 right up until they got blown out last night.

Duke had the best resume in the country before last night, too. They deserved the #1 ranking.

After this loss, they deserve to drop to at LEAST 9 or 10.

yep as much as I hate to admit it they deserved to be the #1 team until last night (and not because of their name, tradition, etc). After the ranting I did on a previous post, I went back, studied their resume a bit (up to this point), the teams they've played strength, their scoring averages, rebounding, etc.

Now it's all set up for UM to be #1.
