This actually brings up a good discussion. What are you feelings toward a mascot?

I wouldn't mind as long as it's not some cartoony looking character like Sparty. A live wolverine like they had back in the day would be great. How to keep the thing from ripping everyone's face off, even the trainers is a whole other story. There are some smart people at that university, I'm sure they can figure something out.

Ok agreed. BUT....hypothetically... if the powers that be at the University of Michigan decide not to consult you first and move ahead with getting a mascot anyway, what would you be OK with as a fan. Are you saying there is no mascot that you would like to see?

I'm fairly certain that AD Brandon, President Coleman, etc. wouldn't exactly seek my approval before implementing, in my opinion, such a dastardly plan. Yes, as a fan/alumnus/person I would not like to see ANY mascot, period.

Of course I don't make the call and in these struggling economic times AD Brandon (a.k.a. The "Brandor") may decide to find some revenue that way. IMHO it would receive the same appreciation as "The Halo" did. Ironically, I never really had a peoblem with "The Halo".

A few years back, some clowns wanted to suggest "Willy the Wolverine" as a mascot and had some guy dressed up in a gawdawful-looking costume that even made Sparty look handsome. He showed up before a game but was never seen or heard from again (fortunately). Michigan doesn't need such idiocy!

A few years back some jokers at MSU dressed a guy up in a sickly looking wolverine costume. This was at MSU. We couldn't figure out where the ugly mascot came from. Then found out it was sparty dressing up trying to be a wolverine.

I remember "Willy the Wolverine", is that what you are talking about?
