| I do too but I think I'd jump on this chance.
I think the important thing is he WANTS to come to Michigan and finish playing for Nuss. It's not like we're trying to "out recruit" others for him. _________________ "What the HELL's going on out here?"

| Hoke is in his 4th year and everyone was so happy that he started building the lines with top recruits. "It all starts with the line (which I agree) was to be Hoke's first goal. With last years horrible line play to now looking for a 5th year transfer. And with headlines like "Can Doug Nussmeier Salvage the Offensive Line?" (Bleacher Report) I just don't get it. Is it the recruits? Coaching? No one seems to know. And now we are already making excuses for the upcoming season. What's up with this? |

| Again exmich, I don't think anyone is making excuses for the upcoming season. If you really paid attention, you would know that most people believe Hoke has to win this season. So that is not excuses.

| Here is an excuse I hear and read all the time. Inexperience or underclassman. Have you not heard that? |

| I'm with Fish- Funk has been horrible. I keep hearing that he is one of the key recruiters on staff though. Maybe when they shuffled the defensive coaches, they should have shuffled him somehow (not sure how that would have been done though).

Not for this upcoming season. You said for the upcoming season. Not when you have a 5th year senior at QB. No, I haven't heard it for this upcoming season. | |

I've commented a bit about this in other threads and all I can say is that what Funk lacks in coaching he more than makes up for on the recruiting trail. Funk is an absolute gem on for UM in the recruiting department. I suspect this is a big reason that he is still around. Plus and and Hoke go pretty far back so there's that. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| All I have to say is this. Anyone that reads Michigan Football sites and hasn't read OL concerns is nuts. Please don't make me reference them. And what's with the 5th year QB? not relevant to this OL post. And, give me a great coach over a great recruiter any day...Snyder (KSU), throw in Dantonio as well. |

| You could surf the internet and find articles about pretty much every position for Michigan.
We certainly haven't excelled at any yet.
I guess we might as well shitcan the entire coaching staff and start over. _________________ "What the HELL's going on out here?"

I agree in part to this. The problem is the name Michigan doesn't carry the same weight it used to and the 4 and 5 star kids aren't beating down the door to get in like they used to. Given our current OL coaching situation.... it's better to have the players that we have on the team than a bunch of MAC level talent wouldn't you say? Also I forgot to add that he's not primarily an OL recruiter. He recruits across the board. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| And, back to the original post,
I think it would be great to bring him in, even for a 1 year fix.
We need help. Other teams do it but you usually hear about QBs but not OLs. _________________ "What the HELL's going on out here?"

| I don't know if it's the homer in me or if it's the positive talk coming out of the spring practice or if it's just my own feeling that two in the system is the turning point but I think the OL is going to pleasantly surprise people this year. _________________ Sometimes people standing on third base think they hit a triple, but they didn't - Jim Harbaugh

| If this year's line is average, it will be a pleasant surprise. | |
