Who would've thought....

-That Darius Morris would come off a freshman season where he averaged 4.4 ppg, 2.6 apg, and 1.8 rpg and then go for 15.0 ppg, 6.7 apg, and 6.0 rpg in his sophomore season?

-That unranked Tim Hardaway Jr. would come in and score 13.9 ppg as a true freshman?

-That Michigan would win a share of the Big Ten Title despite starting a freshman PG (Burke) and three guys that will never sniff the NBA (Douglass, Novak, and Morgan)?

-That Trey Burke would go from having a good freshman season to becoming the National Player of the Year?

-That Michigan could lose Trey Burke (National Player of the year), Tim Hardaway Jr. (1st round draft pick), and Mitch McGary (pre-season All American), yet still go on to win the Big Ten and make the Elite 8?

-That Nik Stauskas would go from being a role-player shooting specialist his freshman season to being one of the most unstoppable offensive players in the country?

-That Caris LeVert would go from almost being red-shirted his freshman year to scoring 12.9 ppg his sophomore season?



I've learned to trust this coaching stuff and the players they put on the court. Who knows what we will add to this list next season?

-Who would've thought Caris LeVert would turn into a NPOY candidate? Maybe...
-Who would've thought that Zak Irvin would follow Nik's steps by going from a shooting specialist to an elite offensive weapon? Maybe...
-Who would've thought that Derrick Walton would be able to follow Darius Morris and Trey Burke's steps by becoming an elite PG in his 2nd season in the program? Maybe...
-Who would've thought that Kam Chatman would come in and be the perfect fit for Michigan's "stretch 4" and be Big Ten Freshman of the Year? Maybe...
-Who would've thought that Mark Donnal would be able to come in be able to replace Jordan Morgan without any drop off in production? Maybe....


Point is: there is a lot of things to like about next years team. Do I think we take a step back? Yes. I do think it is foolish to write the team off as "LUCKY" to make the tournament next year, though.
