I fear he came across "drill sergeanty" to the prospects. But, I doubt this speech was much different then the way he's approached all of our current commits, so I guess it's working.

He's definitely a throwback . I am not sure about how the kids feel but I would have no issue with sending my kid to play for him.

The players on the team LOVE coach Hoke. That's all that matters to me.

He may have came off that way but that is because he is a leader. If you'll notice, he got things done. He spoke firmly and confidently about want he wanted and justified it with history, tradition, and success. The players in that room aren't stupid, they realize that they're not perfect yet but they do have the opportunity to become better. If they end up not making it they'll need to find something else to do. Therefore, they can see by attending Michigan they'll learn more than just X's and O's, they'll learn valuable life lessons in addition to obtaining one of the best educations around for an athlete (let's be honest, a General Studies degree doesn't compare to Engineering, Pre-Med, Business, etc.). I think the people in that room bought into what Coach Hoke was saying just in that brief 10 minutes.

Drill Sargently? Obviously you've never been in the military.

LOL...no he hasn't. Neither have I but I think his point was that he was controlling the conversation (which as the main speaker, he should have been).

I mean the term 'drill sargently' wasnt the right term. I just typed what first got into my head.
And I never said there's anything wrong with how Hoke was, I was merely speculating on the impression an immature HS kid would get from it.
