Michigan Camp and players to watch Empty
PostSubject: Michigan Camp and players to watch   Michigan Camp and players to watch EmptyMon Jun 18, 2012 2:16 pm

Some interesting tidbits from TomVH and Rothstein regarding camp today.

- First session of camp starts around 9-11:30, break for lunch then starts back up again around 1-3:30

- Player update: Defensive backs Caleb Day (2013, Hilliard, Ohio/Darby) and Jaleel Hytchye (2013, Cincinnati/LaSalle) are at camp, as is 2014 DL Daniel Cage. Tom says he's one to watch. Also, Brady Hoke and some of the coaches just finished talking with the campers. Former Michigan TE Kevin Koger, who is in Ann Arbor rehabbing, also spoke to them.

- As for current Michigan players, Will Campbell and Ondre Pipkins are in attendance this morning.

- 2014 TE Chase Sorrells looks good. Tall, a little lanky, but he is also one to watch.

- Just so everyone is aware on today....Freshmen and sophomores will be working out first, juniors and seniors later on.

- 2014 DB D'Andre Payne (Washington, D.C./Woodson) isn't here today but told Tom he'll be here later in the week.

- Trotwood (the school that produced Roundtree, Michael Shaw, Brandon Moore and recruit Mike McCray II) brought some people. 2014 WR Kendric Mallory and Demarcus Wilson are at camp, as is DB Romello Crisp.

- One Trotwood player who didn't show is 2014 RB Ashton Jackson. Tom reports he isn't here due to family issues.

- Mike McCray is in attendance at camp.

- Players to watch (From TomVH) 2014 QB Coleman Key; 2014 DB Caleb Day; TE Chase Sorrell; WR Corey Holmes; 2015 QB Mike O'Connor; DT Daniel Cage. Not every player is here today so that list will grow, but those are some names to keep an eye on early here.

- 2014 WR Kendric Mallory from Trotwood has already made a few really good catches, per TVH.

- 2013 DB Caleb Day is having a bit of a morning. Tom says he's "doing very well in 1-on-1's. Looks the part." He's being recruited as a DB not a WR

- Denard Robinson is in attendance at the camp this morning.

- Adding to that list, Fitzgerald Toussaint, Jerald Robinson and Brandon Moore have also showed up.

- From Tom: WR Kendric Jones (another Trotwood product) has made some solid catches in 1-on-1. 2013 WR Damario Jones has made some good catches as well, including one over Caleb Day.

- The coaches are watching 2015 QB Mike O'Connor. Tom says he's looked good all day long. Also, there's an eighth-grade QB named Messiah Deweaver from Trotwood. He's 6-2, also looks good. Tom says he might start for Trotwood next year.

- 2013 DB Jaleel Hytchye has been called in for 1-on-1's by the coaches quite a bit.

- 2014 QB Coleman Key has looked good, throws a really nice ball.

- Speaking of Coleman Key, he's leaving tonight but is planning on meeting with Michigan's coaching staff before he departs. Same with 2015 quarterback Mike O'Connor.

- The morning session is over at the Michigan football camp and they are at lunch.

- As far as this afternoon, TomVH isn't sure on what will happen because those unhappy clouds from before are now dropping insane amounts of rain on Ann Arbor.

- Update from Tom. 2014 OL James Hendren (Brookline, Mass./Dexter School) is going to came next summer instead of this one so it is closer to his decision timeframe. Said if he gets an offer, he'll visit after that, too.
