I'm always looking forward to the fall.

The football, the football and the football.

Oh, not to mention, fall also provides my favorite weather (and by that I mean October-ish.....60s to low 70s where I can wear just about anything and be comfortable).

I love fall and all that goes with it. Especially when I lived upnorth. The way the air smells and the crunch of the leaves and dappled light.
Walking by the tailgates and the smells of excited gathering. Eager bustle of throngs in anticipation. Nods to opposing fans and knowing smiles exchanged while rarely interrupted by any imbeciles. Stadium light offerings before the game amidst nervous stomachs. Zingermans Roadhouse after.
Believe it or not I have only tailgated at one game and it was at Spartan stadium as a guest. Usually go to one or more UM games a year and a few HS in different parts of the state.

I'm a huge fan of the smell of burning leaves (of course, that was before I moved to Chicago....where that smell doesn't exist).

But you're right, the different sights and smells of the fall get to me as well.

I was walking the other day during lunch here downtown and had to stop and stand at a corner for more than a couple minutes simply because it smelled and reminded me of gameday in AA. I think it was at the corner of Monroe and Washington, but I may be wrong. Either way, the smell hit me across the face like a ton of bricks and I immediately in mind was transplanted to the parking lot at Pioneer HS. It was weird but really, really neat.

I lived for two years in Washington State near Puyallup where Brock Huard was a senior and the top recruit in the nation. He was writing an article each week about the recrutiing experience. Wife and I went to a game and he just lobbed 70yd bombs all game for tds. All their stadiums then were modern and had artificial surface due to rainy conditions like UW did at the time. Damon Huard and Billy Joe Hobert, DAne Looker and an NFL TE all came from that school.
Without the change of seasons it just wasn't the same even though the weather changed the fir trees didn't. Not many other types around it seems. Oh well we still liked it and could watch UM and still have the whole day to play. My son was born in Puyallup as well.

Fall is my favorite time of year as well but summer isn't even here yet. We need to enjoy the summer. The scantily clad girls, the BBQ's, the boat-rides, bon-fire's, skinny-dipping with co-eds, etc. All the while Michigan Football will be in the back of my mind though...

That's why I'm looking forward to fall, Michigan Football. I like all of the other stuff but it can wait (as long as I know that it's coming).
