I think this is a smart move by Sparty but I think it would have been genius if they would have done it three years ago. Way to catch the late bus lil-bro

Either...

A) They really were that delusional to think they could continue to get whatever Michigan or midwest recruit they wanted after the RR era ended

or

B) They really are that incompetent to not have foreseen Michigan showing due diligence, hiring the right guy and getting back to Michigan football and becoming the #1 team in the state again to have made this move earlier.

Take your pick Sparty

Aren't A) & B) basically the same? sparty is as sparty does.

It's not gonna matter much as recruits look at the whole package, not just a used car salesman....

Dantonio is interesting to me. They still love him in Columbus from his time as DC there. He strikes me as having very little charisma, most head coaches have quite a bit. Those I've talked to who have met him support that assessment.

He's done pretty well at MSU all things considered.

I'd like to say being a Prick toward Mich fans is all part of his act, but I don't think it is.

I really do believe 100% of that is directly attributable to Mike Hart's little brother comment. Sure he may have had some feeling towards Michigan coming from O$U but Dantonio's response to Hart's comments and the look in his eye and the hate in his voice and the coil in his posture during his interview when he responded to Mike's comments were absolutely classic. If I were a sparty fan I would have absolutely LOVED to hear my coach talk like that.

He's still an ass though. I probably wouldn't want my kid playing for a coach like that.

Well, the bar at sparty isn't that high.  Plus Michigan, ohio, and Penn State being down doesn't hurt making his program look better.

http://mashable.com/2013/07/22/college-football-best-fans/

I posted that on my Facebook wall and tagged my sparty friend who replied, "That's cool. State still made 16. You continue to talk about them being terrible, but they are solidly a top-20 all-time team. Not everyone can be Michigan."  He replied that they were still 16th on the list so that wasn't bad (never-mind 6th in the B1G) so I told him "Yes it is when you realize that you're sixth in your conference. Comparing yourself with rink-a-dink U doesn't mean much. Maybe if you ever filled your stadium you might be higher..."

Too bad gameday atmosphere isn't part of this equation. I mean after all you can't measure "engaged" any better than actually being at the game if you ask me. If that were the case though, Wisconsin would be in the top three. This list is fun to look at though given that UM is #1.
