MSU Injury

Michigan St. F Branden Dawson out 4-5 weeks with broken right hand. He suffered injury slamming table in frustration during film session.

and they probably won't have Payne either.

That is huge for them, but not a deal breaker. They still have one of the best back courts in the country.

GRIII should be thanking his lucky stars. Instead of having to deal with Payne or Dawson, he might get to play against Kenny Kaminski. Talk about an athleticism advantage!

Kaminski just had one hell of a game but I can't remember who it was against. I just remember seeing his face and stats all over the BTN final review.

I remember earlier this year people were hyping up the McGary v Payne matchup and it looks like neither one will play. Funny how that works out.

Izzo says Payne's chances of playing Saturday are "slim to none.

For those who think Izzo is being coy on Payne, he's not -- Payne is doing absolutely nothing in practice. Big game, not bigger than March.

Back to the injury: slamming his hand watching film, and breaking a bone...

My Mom once had a favorite line for when I (or her other sons) would do things of that nature (and degree of common sense):
"And you were there when you did it?"

Am I the only one that doesn't believe he broke his hand in the way they are describing?

It is a little suspicious since they have won 11 in a row. I think IU gave them a little more trouble then they should of but to be so frustrated that you break your hand watching film. Questionable. Then again if they wanted something that sounded more legit they could have just said he did it at practice.

I guess we'll never know.

Dawson is also the guy who got in a fist fight with Payne (his roommate I believe) last year, so there appears to be a temper issue there. The story is extremely strange to say the least.

While it may be fun to see where Michigan stands (ie. playing Michigan St. at full strength), the truth of the matter is that RPI, strength of schedule, and Big Ten standings don't care about injuries. A win vs a banged up Michigan St. team will count just as much as a win vs a full strength Michigan St. team.

I don't study the components/composition of RPI's, hail, so I'll take your word for it (injuries not impacting rating, etc.).  But regardless of what percent MSU is playing at---let's just get the friggin' win!!!

I laughed my ass off when I heard about this. Along with Jehru Campbell's antics, this has been a GREAT week for the moo-sters.

Haha it is awesome, dwoody. Now they are playing off this 7-0 vs 6-0 Big Ten game vs a rival as "not important."

I have a feeling that no matter the outcome the headlines will be all about the MSU injuries but I sure hope we win this game.
