No wonder they hate us so much. When they get one thing they are better than us they cling to it. When we begin to take it back they fight scream claw and scratch like little girls.

I constantly hear about their hate for Bo Ryan. That's because Bo Ryan BEATS THEM REGULARLY!

MSU goes to Iowa next. Could be looking at a Wisconsin/OSU type of slide. Izzo's head could explode!

Yes, it is the Sagarin of college basketball. Ken Pomeroy is a stats guy that has come up with a very good formula for ratings teams. There is more that goes into his ratings than Offensive/Defense (such as Tempo, Strength of Schedule) but the two biggest keys are "Adjusted Offense" and "Adjusted Defense".

"Adjusted stats", in short, eliminate the effect tempo has on how good/bad a team looks. For example: Michigan could play Northwestern, only have 60 possessions, and score 70 points. Michigan St. could play Nebraska, have 70 possessions, and score 70 points. If you just look at PPG, the offenses both score 70 points. However, Michigan's offense was better due to scoring more on less possessions.

So KenPom takes this all into consideration and comes up with mathematical ratings based on Win/Loss/AdjO/AdjO/Tempo/SOS. It is a much better indicator than Media or Coach polls because there is no bias. It is not perfect, though. There are always some teams that the computer's love. For example, Creighton is #2 in KenPom's rating but is nowhere near the 2nd best team in the country.

But how does it rate teams?

Hypothetically Michigan could score 70 in 70 posessions against MSU and Eastern Michigan could score 70 in 70 possessions against Eastern Michigan A&M (just joking) . How does he differentiate then?

Or is there a percentage of the total that is either poll or opinion?
