Small finished his playing career at Ohio State in the 2009 season, and was suspended for his final game, the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1, 2010, for a violation of team rules. He was in Jim Tressel's doghouse several times, and his father, Ken, complained about the way his son was treated within the program, even as Tressel gave Small several chances.
