ANN ARBOR -- Jim Harbaugh's done plenty of experimenting with Michigan's roster since taking over the program, a process that continued through fall camp.
One example is sophomore receiver Freddy Canteen, who spent time taking reps at cornerback during camp, as shown on the Big Ten Network.
On Saturday, Canteen confirmed that those reps weren't just an experiment. He has plans to play both ways this season.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Canteen made 5 catches for 22 yards and a touchdown in 11 games last season as a wide receiver.
On Saturday, Michigan special teams coach John Baxter explained that fans might see some interesting personnel packages early this season, especially during the Utah game.
At this point, Michigan's staff is still in the process of trying to figure out where every player best fits.
"This team's a work in progress," "This isn't one of those ones where we could roll out a two-deep and you guys could probably count on it. You might even see some strange personnel moves.
"We're just trying to find out who's what."
