Probably wasn't sure if he was going to have his offer pulled. This one hurts.

It's my understanding that he was waiting for a Stanford offer due to academics????? Can someone verify that? Seems like I read that somewhere.

Agree, it hurts. Just when the OL was looking decent as far as recruits.

I'm sure Jim will figure something out.

OK, I pulled this off mgoblog:

Per Baltimore (Md.) Gilman assistant coach Henry Russell, four-star offensive tackle Devery Hamilton has flipped his commitment from Michigan to Stanford.

Hamilton made it official Friday evening during his in-home with Cardinal head coach David Shaw.

"I think just the academics that Stanford has to offer and his parents having a family friend out there who can help make the distance more doable," Russell added.

THAT woud be interesting. I'm fairly certain that Swenson would say go *bleep* yourself...

That really wouldn't end well.

I would say fuck swenson. He sounded too Brady for me with his whiney, entitled attitude. Not a Harbaugh Michigan man. If I was a recruit and my proposed school's new coach suggested I go to a camp for some training and evaluations, I would enthusiastically say, "Sure. How many?"

How about unranked OT Alaric Jackson from Detroit. Guess they offered him...wow.

He is ranked, just not very highly. I'm not mad, not thrilled either but not mad.

What a joke. Swenson is good enough for future College Hall of Fame coach Bob Stoops, but not good enough for Jimmy. Sometimes the grass isnt always greener. Gonna tinker this roster and end up worse off to show for it.

Sometimes a player just isn't a good fit with the coaching staff regardless of talent.

Swenson disrespected the program and coaches by refusing their suggestion to camp. I don't want players with that kind of 'tude.

And your concrete source for this info would be? If you throw out terms like disrespected you should name a source. It frankly sounds like a term a knucklehead kid would use. I certainly have not read one source who said he flat refused to do what the coached asked. I have seen some inferences regarding wanting more of him but havent heard one specific instance where he flat refused to do something they asked him to do. I just thinks its a loss that is particularly painful given the depth at OL.

Some of that is because Michigan coaches are prohibited from commenting on any recruit that has not signed a letter of intent.

Pretty certain it is a given that he was asked to camp at michigan and refused. Or declined. Your choice.

This. I've saw that information from multiple different sources. Also that he played "not to get hurt"...

Tmorris is quite the swenson devotee. I notice he joined the forum about when Brady probably offered swenson. Do you think....?

He is in fact Swenson?  Nah.  He might know him though.  Don't know, don't care.
