2018 Recruiting

Joe beat me to it but 2018 recruitment Antwuan Johnson committed to Michigan today. urban has got to be fuming as this kid is from ohio. I don't have all of the specifics, 'eggo did when he came here, but he is currently a 4-star. He is apparently one of the top LB rescruits in the MidWest. The kid has size as he's already 6'1" 218. He might even be a 5-star later on if he grows a signifcant amount more.

He is also classmates with another stud out of ohio, Leonard Taylor. Coach Harbaugh has got to be driving urban crazy and I love it!

Remember this name, Artur Sitkowski. I haven't seen film on him yet (nor do I claim to be a QB guru), and it's still way early but it sounds like he could push McCaffery in a few years if he picks Michigan. And yes it sounds as if it is trending that way.

Peters, McCaffrey and maybe Sitkowski. Not to mention 2 more years of O'Korn and 3 more with Speight. Depth is building, and that's great.

This, I just got bck from California a couple weeks ago and when anyone found out that I was from Michigan they said "Congratulations on getting McCaffery, he's special." A couple even made comments to the extent of they wouldn't be shocked if he starts the first year after he gets there.

Yes the depth is getting very impressive. Is it wrong that I'm looking forward to bitch-slapping sparty back to reality?

Yea, I've been sleeping on the recruiting trail for the past several months. I see the commits but have not been putting them here. Thanks for picking up my slack on this end joe.

It's starting to heat-up. It sounds like we're in the running with a top QB along with, surprise surprise UCLA and Jedd Fisch. From the minimal amount of info. that I have on this right now he'll be going to UCLA along with a Top TE prospect. They both will be visiting Michigan together in a few weeks but (Brevin Jordan-TE) is on record as claiming that he is a city guy and that he'd like to visit Michigan because it's different. To me at least it sounds like he's treating the entire thing like an experiment and has his mind made up. I think that will sway Dorian Thompson-Robinson (QB recruit) to UCLA but maybe he wants to go his own way? Robinson has mentioned that Harbaugh is a QB guru so you never know?

And then there is the question of the NJ pipeline? Will it continue? First Peppers, then Gary, this year we got Singleton, but will it continue with Tyler Friday next year? He has other large offers in addition to Michigan but we'll see.

Christian Turner, a 3 star RB out of Georgia, has joined the fold.

He's got a nice offer list for a 3*. Could be a 4* by signing day.

Watching his tape (which you can't tell everything from) is that he's quick, powerful, and has good vision. Of course no one is 100% positive that those qualities will translate to the college game but let's give it a try. 5'11" 187 as a High School Jr. doesn't impress but it's not bad either. I'm in no way complaining as this could be the guy that Coach Harbaugh has been looking for.

Just received commitments from twin defensive backs out of DeSoto, Tx. German and Gemon Green.

This sorta baffles me. They are both 3* and neither has a very impressive offer list.

But I have to believe in Harbaugh at least until he proves he can't do it.

Just saw that, I'm not a huge believer in stars as for the end-all, be-all but whatever. Maybe they'll be bumped up to 4-star next year? Remember they are HS Juniors. That will also give them more time to collect more offers and therefore gain a higher-ranking.

Cameron McGrone is trending towards Michigan.  rudy also has a shot. McGrone looks like a stud linebacker in the making.

Jeremy Ruckart (#2 TE) has his final four of UM, osu, rudy, and Wisconsin. Ruckart is from New York. IMHO we still have a shot but ohio state appears to be the leader in the clubhouse as they have more of a need in personnel currently. Coach Harbaugh's frequent two TE sets will help here.

Ok, from what I understand, some of the players Michigan is excited about coming to visit are already "committed" to another school, and we hope they will "commit" to Michigan instead. And we're supposed to be excited about their potential "commitment" to Michigan. Is that right? Maybe we should change the word to "declared" until a binding LOI is signed, or attendance at Michigan begins.

It's been that unbinding way forever....
