Tony's son Paris responded to one of my videos over Christmas. Part of me wanted to pm him to ask how his father was doing but I knew he obviously wasn't going to give personal information to a total stranger.
Never knew any of that link's info, WH/AGB, and wish I STILL didn't. I recall how I felt, in 1989, what a cruel blow it was to T.B. when he badly injured his knee, ending his Michigan career.
Changing to my own generation, my sophomore year, 1971, there was a very good running back named Billy
Taylor. That team (I preach to the choir, I know) finished 11-0, but lost to Stanford in the Rose (13-12).
He had a so-so game in the Rose---and for the same reasons we struggled to three-point wins over very
mediocre Purdue and OSU teams: no passing game whatsoever.
But right after that (1-1-72) game, BT's life just went straight to the bottom. I'm sure you've Wiki-ed it before,
as here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Taylor_(American_football) but the saddest part for me was this:
The people of his hometown Barberton, OH (a place which also produced his coach at U-M) took up a collection to buy plane fares and accommodations so BT's mother could go to Pasadena and see her son play. Only three days after the game, she died...the beginning of his descent into a horrific existence.
