| Yes, I read that earlier.
Frankly, I'd definitely hoped for better than this for the man, given how he righted our ship---like 1800 degrees (sic)---in 2011.
Clearly was (in time) in over his head in the HC position, but he was, after all, our D-line coach in---oh, what happened that year?---1997.
Maybe a position coach (versus a coordinator) is as high as he should be placed.

| Example of the Peter Principle. Parlayed a .500 coaching record and one good season each at two lower tier schools into one of the plum jobs in college football.
Thanks to Mattison and a gritty group of RR recruits he had one magical season with us.

| RichRod was definitely not a good fit, but the man did give us an explosive offense. Defense, not so much. | |

Rich Clod is responsible for 2008. End of story. _________________ 'eggo denoted me a First ballot Hall of Famer! - sandyeggo_blue wrote:

| blame Lloyd Carr for 2008 ... we had Les Miles , but Carr killed that then put forward RR's name then back-stabbed him as well | |

| Carr never wanted Rich Clod. He never wanted Miles either, he was upset because Martin wouldn't let him name his replacement. I'm not positive but didn't Carr want English? Yea that didn't work out so hot for Eastern. _________________ 'eggo denoted me a First ballot Hall of Famer! - sandyeggo_blue wrote:

| This from the 60 page addendum of new material for the paperback edition of Bacon's most recent book "Endzone":
"One trait throughout history that all successful generals have shared is an uncommon ability to analyze their troops strengths and weaknesses with cool detachment. Leaders in the habit of kidding themselves do not last long. Harbaugh demonstrated this vital quality when he started evaluating the game film of Michigan’s returning players in his office, which he calls his “football bunker.” Despite Brady Hoke’s top seven recruiting classes from 2012 and 2013, who were now sophomores and juniors, according to several witnesses, not only did Harbaugh grade most of Michigan’s returning players as average or lower, he was alarmed by what he termed an “intensity deficit.” They simply weren’t tough enough, physically or mentally. As a direct result, they were prone to wear down and fall apart by the fourth quarter, a tendency Michigan demonstrated in numerous games the previous seasons."

| Carr never wanted RR but when Martin turned down English , Lloyd recommended RR to Martin so as to keep Miles away ... the dark days of 2008-2014 would never have happened if Lloyd Carr had been a Michigan Man and had done what was good for the program !!! | |
