| "On an annual basis, we have about 40 (violations)," Smith said during the Tuesday interview. "It ranges in that area we're sitting at. In that 40 range is where we always hang.
"Our whole thing is if we have 10 (violations), I'd have a problem. I mean, I really would, because people are going to make mistakes. And that means if I only have 10 out of 350 employees (and) 1,000 athletes - something's not right."

| How can Smith claim not to know how the NCAA will view these violations? Like he doesn't know. Watch these be more secondary violations in an attempt to make their compliance department look good. "We're OSU! Look how honest we are! What admirable integrity we have!" | |

| Ok so it took me some time to read an article that ESPN posted a week or so ago but I finally did and it clears up Ohio's secondary violations IMO. Basically Ohio is about normal for these types of violations. You have to consider they have more sports teams than most so their violations overall are in line with other programs once you take size into consideration. FYI-More than half of B1G schools have reported over 30 secondary violations. Why ESPN chose to point out their infractions and not others is beyond me.
Here is the story:

Basically secondary violations are the NCAA"s cuss jar. It doesn't stop anyone from doing it they just have to pay a nominal fee (self report) when they do it. | |
