Sparty  did get 3 of 4. They got 4* DT Naquan Jones and 4* DT Mike Panasiuk today.

As predicted it moved them up to the #6 class in the rankings.

Jaquan Yulee is set to announce in about two hours. if they get him that should put them at #5.

BTW, it still is very early. sparty has no reason to lift up their skirts yet. Their whores do that already.

lazy day so I decided to update my prediction for the 2016 recruiting class. this is my very optimistic list but in all fairness UM definitely has a very legitimate shot to get every single one of these guys.

5* DT Rashan Gary 6-4 290lbs Paramus Catholic (Paramus, NJ)
4* WDE Xavier Kelly 6-5 255lbs East (Wichita, KS)
4* SDE Khalid Kareem 6-4 260lbs Harrison (Farmington, MI)

5* OLB Caleb Kelly 6-3 215lbs Clovis West (Fresno, CA)
3* ILB Dele Harding 6-1 232lbs Eastern Christian (Elkton, MD) - Committed
3* ILB David Reese 6-1 235lbs Farmington (Farmington, MI) - Committed
3* ILB Dytarious Johnson 6-1 205lbs Prattville (Prattville, AL) - Committed
3* OLB Jonathan Jones 6-1 220lbs Oak Ridge (Orlando, FL)

5* OT Ben Bredeson 6-5 293lbs Arrowhead (Hartland, WI)
4* OT Erik Swenson 6-7 285lbs Downers Grove South (Downers Grove, IL) - Committed
4* OG Michael Onwenu 6-3 365lbs Cass Technical (Detroit, MI) - Committed
4* OG Terrance Davis 6-4 305lbs DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD)
4* TE Naseir Upshur 6-3 233lbs Imhotep Institute (Philadelphia, PA)

4* WR Brad Hawkins 6-2 195lbs Camden (Camden, NJ)
4* ATH Ahmir Mitchell 6-3 206lbs Cedar Creek (Egg Harbor City, NJ)
4* APB Chris Evans 5-11 186lbs Ben Davis (Indianapolis, IN) - Committed
3* WR Donald Stewart 6-4 180lbs Paramus Catholic (Paramus, NJ)

4* PRO Brandon Peters 6-5 205lbs Avon (Avon, IN) - Committed

4* CB Lavert Hill 5-10 166lbs Detroit, MI (Detroit Martin Luther King)
4* CB David Long 6-0 175lbs Loyola (Los Angeles, CA)
3* CB Antwaine Richardson 6-0 165lbs Atlantic (Delray Beach, FL) - Committed

3* RB Kiante Enis 6-1 200lbs Winchester Community Sch (Winchester, IN) - Committed
3* RB Matthew Falcon 6-1 215lbs Southfield (Southfield, MI) - Committed
3* FB Kingston Davis 6-1 225lbs Prattville (Prattville, AL) - Committed

I'm still keeping Gary in the class but he's nowhere near a lock.

Caleb Kelly is probably an uphill battle but the optimist in me thinks Harbaugh can pull him.

Ben Bredesen seems to be trending nicely. I feel really good about him being in the class.

4* WR Desmond Fitzpatrick  6-2 194lbs Farmington (Farmington, MI) is in the mix. I still think he flips to UM. if that happens then maybe we don't take Brad Hawkins.

Lavert Hill is interesting right now. He hasn't decommitted from Penn State and from what I'm reading, if he does it will be a 50/50 battle with sparty.

I'd also like to add that a class this size would put UM 10 over the scholarship limit so UM would definitely need to trim some players through attrition/5th yr SRs/etc for Harbaugh to sign all of these kids.

FWIW if we did sign all of the these kids it would easily give UM a top 5 class.

Per his twitter Rashad Weaver just committed.

I don't like this offer at all. there are a lot bigger fish in the pond. but harbaugh loves his jumbo athletes.

Just saw that, another 2-star. Yea I question it but until it blows-up in Coach Harbaugh's face I'll trust him. Look at what going after star-ratings got Hoke.

Devin Gil just decommitted from Miami. UM has been pursuing him and Devin Bush hard for the last two months.

Both Gil and Bush and their moms are at UM this weekend. I would not be surprised to see him commit soon.

side note: i have seen three pics/tweets now from the moms and they are absolutely LOVING their UM visit.

Josh Matellus has decommitted from Ga Southern. He's part three of the Flanagan trio visiting this weekend. He has been CB'd 100% to Michigan. could be a three way commit coming soon.

What is your gut feeling on Gary? Looks like he is drinking the SEC cool-aid, and is now enamored with Auburn. I think it's important to land him after being snubbed by Hand.

I agree, I think he has gotten bit by the SEC bug but it's a long way to go to NSD. He will be on campus this year for an official. Plus UM will probably have 4 of his high school teammates and his former coach on board  by then so that could sway him. Plus I'm pretty sure he has family in Detroit. So there are a lot of factors in play.

I am going to keep him in the class for now.

Yep, recruiting seems to be like dating when you're young. Win over the mom, and you win over the daughter. These days, however, when the mom approves of a certain guy (Michigan), she ends up going for the pretty boy sociopath (Alabama).

It's going to make Michigan look bad again, if they fail to land Gary. Spurned by Hand one year, and then him the next.

Sean McKeon commits to UM. another jumbo athlete for Harbaugh.

He's only a three star but the upside is that he holds the fastest 40 time of any TE in the nation (4.65).

What i didn't know is that he also has the highest recorded vertical leap for TEs (36")

BTW those are verified numbers and that would put him 3rd among drafted TEs this year.

**** EDIT ****

I don't want to put $ info on the board but this is an excerpt I grabbed from Steve Lorenz on 247

...Of all the "under the radar" commitments they've gotten this month, I think McKeon is the player with the most upside....
...This is a commit I guarantee Michigan is excited about...

IMO Harbaugh has only had two kids commit that might compete for playing time, the rest will redshirt.

Onwenu and maybe Evans.

Thoughts on why that can be a good thing?

That can be a good thing becaues they will improve before ever-stepping on the field during a game at Michigan. You've witnessed what happens when players are thrust into a position that they aren't ready for with Morris, Gardner, etc. Give the guys a chance to acclimate to the college game and college life, then release the hounds. That will make for a more fundementally sound program in the future. Next year though I'm thinking 7 wins max. Michigan has players, they need coaching though. Not sure that they can be coached enough if just a few months.

By next year, do you mean this coming season when Michigan will be, write this down, 9-3?

You are on record as saying that, I sincerely hope that you're right (or Michigan is even better) but I don't see that immediate of a change.  This isn't basketball Basketball where one person affects the game so much.

'eggo, What's the scoop on the new guy?

http://www.scout.com/player/8140469n-victor-viramontes?s=162

Seems pretty good but only a 3-star? I think that is mostly because he doesn't have a set position yet. The next several years should be fun (although I am cautious with my expectation for next year).

Well here is what I know about Viramontes...

- He obviously wants to play QB and JH told him he'd have a shot but he's being recruited by several other colleges at LB. I think S for UM but that is purely a guess.

- He's an ATH that can play as many as 5 positions.

- He was offered at the satellite camp.

- He MAY have been a silent commit (more on that in a bit)

- I see him as a bigger, faster kovacs.

News of this broke last night via tweet from @Go Blue Design (which is a total hack account) that a kid from cali was about to commit. The problem was that Swenson retweeted it right away so who knew what to think.

then an hour later @MichiganNation2 (another hack account) tweeted that the commit needed to talk to people first.... hold off on the commit. So basically it confirmed that this was bullshit.

Then Steve Lorenz saw it and posted that it was BS.

Then the kid tweeted his commitment. so now Steve is saying that he is 90% sure the kid was a silent commit. IMO that is because Steve doesn't want to look like he got it totally wrong and that a known hack scooped him and he doesn't want to give these other hack tweeters any credibility moving forward.

so for now, the people in the know are saying he was most likely a silent commit since the camp.

This kid another ATH that can flat out play but is definitely not 5* material at any one position. That said, look at his tape and I can't see why he's not a 4*. look at who's already offered him and couple that with the fact that he's get heavy interest from Oregon and Arizona and you can make a case that this is another solid, calculated pick up from the staff.

I think the direction of the staff is clear. Bring in athletes with speed and size, redshirt them, figure out where to play them and go from there.

We could be looking at a REALLY good bunch of RS seniors.

I see Dan Mullen is blasting the satellite camps, calling them recruiting camps. Duh... Giving these lesser known kids more exposure is good for everyone. It just goes to show that the SEC is feeling threatened.

I don't think they feel threatened but I do think they  are pissed that their conference won't allow them to participate in these camps.

Peters is moving on up.

After his performance at the elite 11 semis and his invitation to the finals he has risen all the way to the #135 overall player per 247.

he also jumped from a high 3* to a solid/top 4* QB. He went from an 89 grade to a 94.

Something I read that I did not know is that he has done this despite not having much, if any, private QB training.

Steve Lorenz is saying that there are silent commits in our pool of "top tier" targets that are just waiting for the right time to announce.

Their upcoming visits? the Bar-B-Q? I don't know. All I know is Steve says there are definitely more coming.

Gun to my head and I had to guess, I'd say one of the following recruits will drop soon (in highest chance to commit order):

Terrell Lucas
Khalid Kareem
Terrance Davis
Devin Bush Jr
JaRaymond Hall
Jaylen Kelly-Powell
Amir Mitchell

BTW this list represent about half of our remaining "top tier" targets.

*** EDIT ****
Moved Terrance Davis up my list.

Not sure if anyone has noticed but Michigan now has the #9 overall recruiting class according to 247.

IMO, if a combination of the correct two players commit (can be many combinations) then it would put UM up to #5 for  the time being. Ahead of Sparty, Bama, Gerorgia, etc.

I believe that this will open doors to a lot more upper tier recruits to commit to UM.  Seems to me like they were just waiting on another top tier guy to make the move and now it has happened.  The BBQ might just tell the tale!!
