| Ian Rappoport reporting that the deal is for more than 8 mill, and is guaranteed .We better like him because I got a feeling he's here for the duration. Maybe the Michigan fans help to hold Michigan up because they wanted Jimmy or nobody. _________________ "HAIL HAIL MICHIGAN" Wanted John Harbaugh but I'll settle for JIM WITH AN ENTHUSIASM UNKNOWN TO MANKIND GOOO BLUE The Curse of Rich Rod

| I'm sure others saw the report where it was estimated Jim Harbaugh's value to the university from increased ticket sales, advertising and merchandise sales could approach $1 billion dollars. $8+ million per year is a bargain for that type of return on investment. _________________ No man is more important than The Team. | this is a business make no mistake .... we are fans that love the football ... but as bluenote rightly says , Hackett and the regents know exactly what that 48 million dollar investment will bring the next 6 years .... it will seem like pocket change | |

| Just raise the prices of concessions, game program & parking Seriously the merchandise sales, increase season tickets, plus fans will fired up, more willing to spend money on pre and/or post game meals in AA, fans more excited to spend money on tailgating. Last but not least presuming a real nice bowl game, ticket & merchandise sales from that. Harbaugh beats sparty on October 17th, be able to charge $20 for a hot dog and a coke, no one will care. | |

I think you nail it with merchandise sales. That's where a ton of the money is made; licensed apparel and all the little UofM trinkets. I would love to see the MDen's financials over the last 20+ years....say, back to 1990 or so...to see how the varying levels of success from year to year effected that year's, and perhaps the following year's, bottom line. And the MDen is just a slice of the merchandise pie. _________________ "I don't get sick. I don't observe major holidays. I'm a jackhammer." - Jim Harbaugh & Dwight Schrute

TV is where the majority of money is made. Thus the creation of the BTN, thus the expansion of the B1G into the NY market. T-shirts, etc. are nice but not a cash-cow. _________________ 'eggo denoted me a First ballot Hall of Famer! - sandyeggo_blue wrote:

| The fab 5 was 20 years ago. Money from merchandizing is very significant today. | |

Plus, the school made a ton off of the fab 5, the players didn't make anything. | |
