OT: Hockey

Michigan beat Northeastern University 3-2 to advance to the NE Regional Final tomorrow at 4 on ESPN2. It was a very good game. Michigan is the 2-seed in that region and play Boston University (4-seed) tomorrow. Don't let that fool you, BU has been one of the hotter teams the last 1/3 of the year and the Region is being held in Worcester, Mass. 50 miles east of Boston.

Watched some of it. BU upset Cornell so they're hot.

It's just like any other tourney. It's who gets how when.

Watched the whole game. Good tight game. GO Blue.

We played really, really well, hope we can match that today in another virtual road game.

Boston U had a boat load of talent (based on NHL picks) but did not play as well as a team. Still the game was closer than the final score would indicate.

I just hope my worst nightmare doesn't happen.  ND and OSU in the final.

OK guys! 2nd intermission. Score tied at 2. We lost the edge in the 2nd but looked good near the end.

Uggghhhhh. Already 11:36 here in beautiful southwestern michigan. Oh well....

Just a gut-busting finish. Great season though. Mel is the real deal, good times ahead.

I actually decided to go to The Frozen Four this year, that explains my absence for the last several days. I stayed with an old friend that I hadn't seen in 242 months and 1 day. I had a great time despite what happened on Thursday. I saw 4 guys that played hockey for Michigan while I was there and as it turned out sat next to two. When Notre Dame somehow scored that game-winning goal at 19:55 in the 3rd period all three of us did a simultaneous facepalm and bent over in disbelief. Minnesota has nice roads. Very few potholes, much better than Michigan. Minnesota people can drink a lot. We actually decided to sell our championship tickets because Michigan got knocked out of the tournament. That may or may not have been a mistake (I've been on the fence about that for a while) but we watched the game in a bar that was across the street from the Xcel Energy Center so the atmosphere was probably exactly the same.

The Xcel Center is very impressive. I think it's nicer than Little Caesars Arena.

The Frozen Four comes to Little Caesars in 2020. I HIGHLY suggest going if Michigan makes it. Heck I suggest going even if they don't if you are a hockey fan. It is a great experience.
