Moeller breaks down 'The Catch'

Honestly, if you don't listen, I'll have to question how legitimate of a fan you are lol.

That was fun.  I can't believe that was posted last year and this is the first I'm hearing of this.  I particularly loved the sound clips of Moeller on the field yelling instructions and wondering if we should kick a field goal.

Sad Lou Holtz is one of the most beautiful sounds in the history of the world.

The whole thing was great, but you're right, the audio clips from the headsets is truly awesome.

WH--- were you there that day (9-14-91)?  Even though only 11-1/2 at the time...so presumably you'd have been there with your dad, if at all.  

I ask because it was the next-to-last game (succeeded only by the 2002 forum tailgate) I attended at the 'House. And accompanying me was my son, who was born in---yep---1980!  He "diplomatically procured" a pair of binoculars from a fan next to us, who then let me borrow them---and I got a priceless mug-shot of Granny Lou after Dez' phenominal catch!

I was there that day, in that very corner, about 12 rows up.

I was exactly two weeks away from turning five years old. There with my dad, as well as my uncle (dad's brother in-law) and my cousin.

I don't remember it, with it being that long ago...but I can proudly say I was there!

No, I wasn't there that day.  It was a couple more years before I started going to games on a regular basis.  (And my regular basis has always been 2-3 games a year.)

Lucky you for being there in person to see this play.  It's funny to listen to the crowd on that sound clip and see the end zone shot of them while the ball is in the air.  And both the radio and TV broadcasts are much the same.  Frank Beckman says, "He's going to throw!" in a tone of someone asking "WTF!"  And Brent Musberger on the ABC broadcast says, "They went for it all..."  that sounds like he's saying, "I can't believe they're doing this.  What is Moeller smoking?"  And then Desmond makes the catch and you can't help but scream.  

45 minutes I should have been working that are gone from reading this post. I listened to Mo, watched the play and then, of course, I had to watch the vid on the last 1:31 of the 2011 ND game, and "The Team, The Team, The Team"!

Thanks for sharing this. I was there-in the opposite corner and relied on crowd reaction to confirm that I saw what I thought I saw.
