Gone at 82. Two stints as our DC, one as our OC, and 5 years as head coach during which we won 75 percent of our games and went 3-1-1 against OSU. Gary was critical in the success of many great Michigan teams. In retrospect in sure seems like the Michigan Administration was way too harsh in firing him after one unfortunate, but ugly incident at a restaurant.

Considering what some coaches have done over the last few years , urinating outside a restaurant is hardly over the top !!! Pity Bo was out of the country I believe and couldn’t intervene. Still lost some games we shouldn’t have but boy did Mo open up the passing game without sacrificing our great running game !!

I'm pretty sure he took a swing at an officer and at that point the administration had to let him go. I also read conflicting accounts that he made his wife go sit in the car while he was arguing with the restaurant staff. If that's true that's legendary.

The way our offense changed was unbelievable. I remember wondering if I was actually watching Michigan.
The Desmond play against ND showed the country that the old 3 yards and a cloud of dust was a thing of the past for Michigan. 4th and 1 and we throw the ball? WTF right?
