| Tonight is the annual High School playoff selection show on FSN at 7pm. For those of us who coach/have coached or just really enjoy everything that is high school football this is always a fun thing to watch. Any of you on here have teams they are specifically rooting for or interested in seeing where they play? | |

| My oldest boy graduated last year after 4 years in the program at Montrose and my youngest son plays on this year's Rams freshman team. He'll be heading up for varsity practice starting Monday for what could be a nice playoff run. The varsity squad has been pretty dominant this year and is the number 1 overall seed in division 6. At some point, however, they'll have to get by 3 time defending state champs Ithaca if they want to win our school's 3rd state title. _________________ No man is more important than The Team. | My Swan Valley team got a good District but will have to go through Lansing Sexton in the Regionals and Country Day in the Semis (lost to them in the semis last year) to make the finals. But they have one of if not the best running back in the state and if they can ride him they will do just fine. | |

| I graduated from Millington many years ago. But I really don't follow them. My dad and brothers still do because they still live in the area, but I would like to see them do well in the playoffs. | |

| I work at Birmingham Seaholm, hoping for an hugh upset of Southfield. And oh yea, once we pull upset win, most likely have to play Brother Rice in 2nd round. On paper we have no chance but games aren't played on paper, plus we have a good team. Let the games begin!!! | |

| U.P. Power!
Look for a U.P. team to be 2 or 3 of the Michigan finals. Ishpeming should return to Division 7. They are better than last years team that shocked the world and beat the Malik McDowell led team in the state finals. Then I like two out of the following three:
Forest Park in Division 8 (more success than any Division 8 team in the past 15 years). Negaunee in Division 6 (really good team, only loss was @ Ishpeming 28-24.) Menominee in Division 5 (more success than any Division 5 team in the past 15 years). _________________

| Menominee beat us my Sr. year in the semis. Once you figure out how to stop their single wing offense you're down 3-4 touchdowns and the game is over. | |

Yup. They play stifling defense, too. Their team my senior year (2006 football season) is the best high school football team I've ever seen Live. In the Michigan Division 5 playoffs, their games went like this: Elk Rapids.... 62-0 Mason County Central.... 35-0 Roscommon.... 35-0 Saginaw Swan Valley.... 34-0 Madison Heights Madison.... 41-6 They gave up one touchdown the entire playoff run and it was in the State Finals to a team that had a Running Back (DeAndre Johnson) who ran for 1,964 yards and 31 touchdowns that season. That team was simply amazing. Their tight end ithat year is now the starting tight end for Wisconsin (Pederson), and that is the only U.P. player I know that has gone D1 since then (to my knowledge). _________________

| hail...that Saginaw Swan Valley team was my team in 2006....we stopped them cold in the second half but it was already 27-0 at half so the game was over. And yes they were the best team I have ever seen in person, unfortunately I had to play them not just watch. | |

| Minnominee, makes me happy that Cheboygan ended up in Division 4 , even though we drew Ogemaw Hgts and Cadillac in our division _________________ "HAIL HAIL MICHIGAN" Wanted John Harbaugh but I'll settle for JIM WITH AN ENTHUSIASM UNKNOWN TO MANKIND GOOO BLUE The Curse of Rich Rod

| Ogemaw isn't much this year and Cadillac may be undefeated but they have not have the toughest schedule in the world so that may come back to bite them. | |

What were your thoughts going into that game? I know that Swan Valley is a perennial football powerhouse, so were you guys going in expecting to steamroll? _________________

| I didn't think we would steamroll them but when we found out we were playing on turf we thought we would run all over them. Our rb, fb, wing, and I (QB) all ran sub 10's in the 100 and out team was build on speed and the UP teams are not known for speed. We just could not get going with their suffocating defense, they were much bigger than us so they took away the outside and we couldn't do shit on the inside. | |

| Yeah what kind of BS is that...took us like 8 hours to get to the Superior Dome. Even Menominee had to drive north for the game. | |

| Do you consider it b/s that U.P. teams have to drive 9 hours to get to Ford Field if they make the State Finals, too? _________________ | |

| Semi-final games are supposed to be halfway between schools or close to it, but yes that sucks for UP teams to drive to Ford Field, even though I am sure most high school teams would walk to Ford Field to be in the state championship game. | |

Ishpeming was up 30-3 at halftime over 11-1 Harbor Beach Menominee was up 49-0 at halftime over 12-0 Muskegon Oakridge.

| FWIW, Negaunee lost to Ithaca who will be in the Division 6 state final. Forest Park lost to Beal City who will be in the Division 7 state final. _________________ | |
