My real question bout Michael Sam is
Why is the Co-Defensive Player Of the Year in the Glorious SEC
projected only in the 3rd-5th round?
Yeah, I know why but it sure shows how skewed college "awards" can be.
How many defensive players just from the SEC will be drafted ahead of Sam?

Well I don't think college awards should be based on NFL potential. The two things may often coincide but you can be a great college player and just not project to be great at the next level.

Well remember Erick Anderson won the Butkus here but was a late round pick and only lasted a couple of years I think as a backup

Charlie Ward won the Heisman and never took a snap in the NFL. Tim Tebow had one of the greatest college careers in recent history and he only played 2 or 3 mediocre NFL seasons.
