Wisconsin played really well today

Just back from the game and as disappointing as it was, Wiscy deserved it. They never let us get into our offense and get easy baskets as we do when things are going well.

For all the complaining about our rebounding, that was pretty even. Wiscy only had 2 turnovers- that's incredible.

After a terrible start, the resilience of the team was encouraging. If we could have made a few shot after pulling within five, who knows?

Agree, Shoes. Just read on the MLive site, the MSU tab (yes), their players saying, "Nebraska Just Wanted It More".

We could say practically the same thing. Until our [too-]late streak of cutting it down to four, Wiscy was outhustling
us for every ball, snaring offensive rebounds up the kazoo, and playing their game...much as we played ours at Madison.


At least there were two silver linings: (make it 3: we remain tied for the top): (1) DWoody's point of resilience,
cutting an 18-point deficit to 4 late in the game, and (2) Horford's flat-out admission that we "lacked energy and
effort".  Acknowledging one's failing beats hell out of denying it.

We actually had it to 3 after two Lavert free throws. Sometimes you just have to give credit to the other team. Looked up the rebound totals because on the scoreboard at the game I remember that they were dead even with about 6 minutes to go. It ended at 34-30 Wisconsin as we were firing up shots at the end and they were holding the ball.

To me the most disappointing aspect was the defensive efforts of Morgan and Horford. After Michigan narrowed the score to three down, Wisky simply fed Kaminsky and he drove to the hoop for easy layups. He had what appeared to be a career game. Morford only had about 8 points but they did rebound well. The post defense must be addressed.

I swear I saw Robinson guarding him sometimes didn't I?

What a mis-match

There were times when GR III was supposed to help out from the weak side, but he was a non-factor defensively. Michigan's opponents often bring their post players out beyond the free throw line or farther and then the defensive guys switch and that will often leave a smaller guy on the opponents big man. Or, they don't switch and Horford or Morgan have to scramble under the basket to try to recover enough to re-guard their man.

Kaminsky played the Shaq offense, bump hard left, bump hard right back the defender down until you're at point blank range. It worked for him. Any time we couldn't deny him the ball he scored.
