| Let's say that Michigan's game plan this year is to run the ball no matter what. Try to establish the run. Every team we face will be different but at what point do you abandon the run if it's just not working? Or do you stick with it and try to get something going on the ground?
Halftime is the usual adjustment time but lots of 3rd quarters looked like 1st and 2nd quarters if you ask me. Then the 4th came, panic set in and viola! a seemingly new game plan and play book.
Last year it seemed like there were times where they stuck to it too long and found themselves digging out of holes or trying to make comebacks.

| I would abandon it in the first Q of the ND game. If it's not working. | |

| We have recruited studs 4 and 5 * recruits, but yet the Oline still can't sort itself out... is it just me or is the coaching just not up to Michigan standards of the past... yes we should try to establish the power running game and hopefully with Nussmeier and his Bama running pedigree we can succeed.... you are right shoes if it ain't working move on... and I feel very confident now that Borges is no longer making those decisions | |

AMEN, Shoes. I think back to one of Lloyd's best coaching jobs: the 2000 Orange Bowl. Even with a stud-filled O-line (Hutchinson, Baccus, Brandt, etc.)---much unlike our present one I regret to say---and A-Train running behind them, Alabama's overall quickness on defense was such that we were going nowhere on the ground. So Lloyd all but scrapped the run for two+ quarters and turned everything over to Tom Brady and his superb targets** (Terrell, M.Walker, and the TE's)...and the rest as they say is history. We can only hope the staff sees the light that early-on at ND, if our ground attack isn't improved by then. ** and unlike the case of our current O-Line, we do have some superb targets (and now add in Mo Ways).

| the only thing that gives me hope this year is that it is Nussmeier running things and not Borges .... hopefully he is totally in charge of running the offense and we shall see what we have .... my great concern is that Funk is still there ..... with all our talent on the oline it is amazing that they are still not set at what their best 5 is , injuries aside ... I know hs ratings can sometimes be misleading but they cant all be wrong can they ???? | |

| Anybody here know anything about OL coaching? I don't. Hoke said following the scrimmage that guys weren't using leverage. Again, I know nothing about coaching or playing o-line BUT it seems to me that technique would be a huge focus. I would also think that if you are getting your ass handed to you play after play you might try to improve your technique.
So my questions are:
1. Is Home oversimplifying our OL issues?? 2. Does Home even know what our issues are?

"my great concern is that Funk is still there"I know I had that concern coming into this year. I don't know how much input Nussmeier has on the OL, but since it appears something is wrong, the only constant over the past 2 years has been Funk. Go Blue!!

| Funk has been awful. No matter how much talent he's had or how young it was, line play did not improve over the course of the season. As I've said before he is apparently an excellent recruiter, second best on staff to Matteson, that is not enough.

| Nuss is an improvement over Borges, but I would be concerned that he was encouraged to find a new job so Kiffen could come in. Kiffen > Nuss ? According to Saban he is, so that is a scary thought. | |

| Who cares what Saban says.... hope he has fun with that scumbag Kiffen...the state of Alabama is not big enough for those two egos.... just because saint nick was infatuated with kiffen takes nothing away from what Nussmeier accomplished with the Bama offense... Nick wanted total control .... good luck working with that kiffen | |
