a few first half thoughts.

I think Smith looked good. Nice to see him play as if he is having a smooth transition to the team.

I liked Dickenson's minutes.

the team is shooting 50% so only 4 offensive rebounds, so nothing to see there. Holding BG to 36% shooting and UM gets 18 defensive rebounds. I like those numbers.

the 5 TOs isn't too much to worry about given that it's a young team and it's the first game but get that down in the second half.

I liked the 3 blks. or was it 4?




What I'd like to see in the second half

Get Brooks going. If Juwan is gonna shift the guards around then he'll be expected to score more than 0 pts and have more than 1 ast in a half.

Speaking of assists I really liked the first half ball movement. Box score shows 10 assists but I would've sworn it was more. I'd like to see that type of unselfish play roll over to the second half.

ok i just finished watching my recording of the game. Very positive take aways....

1. the defensive rebounds.... box score says 34 which is a great number but it was evident during the game that UM was cleaning up on the glass and limiting the BG second chance points. I'm really happy about this because I think this is going to be key in B1G play

2. second half Chaundee Brown was excellent. and first half Smith was great as well. Nice to see transfers gel like that. I think this team will go as far as those two will take us.

3. like i said earlier, dickinson will be the main 5 moving forward. He was everything I wanted a true 5 frosh to b be.

4. The perimeter passing and the transition game was vintage Beilein and yet Howard made it look better. i can't to see how this team moves forward.


There is a lot of upside to this team but the B1G play worries me.

In game one, every newcomer, save Jackson, looks like an immediate significant contributor. We are a deep team. Yet no matter the many different player combos used, they all seemed to mesh pretty well. Tried to contain my exuberance really.

Juwan impresses the hell out of me.

Ok guys, I agree with everything. Remember this was Bowling Green. While pretty good for their conference they shouldn't compete with us.

The conference schedule is going to be absolutely brutal. We have a little advantage in the one game opponents but Iowa, MSU, Wisconsin, Illinois and Rutgers are good good teams and head and shoulders above all MAC teams. And even the bottom level B1G teams will be really tough at their place.

It'll be a fun ride though. Take our minds off the dumpster fire called our football team.

Yes the Big 10 is absolutely loaded, hence we are the 7th ranked team in conference but 25th in the nation.

When did we get likes and dislikes on this forum?
