Nebraska was pretty good under Bo Palani . Had some good seasons and now the struggle to get into the top 3 of the Big Ten west. Nebraska was a proud school history in football. Now it looks like Michigan doing the same thing used to be strong powerful college football program and seems like Michigan is dwindling and the shine id fading. You wonder is it because the BIG is getting better or is the talent do deluded that the good program gets their top players and the rest just settle for what they can get. Michigan hasn't ad a top RB or QB in 7 years. Their Offense has been lukewarm for awhile now, They have been no better than the top 3 to four since Harbaugh got here.

a fair analogy but I'd go even further and say that UM football has been even worse. It seems as if their only focus has been at installnig a "michigan man" at the helm while the entire time "michigan football" of the past has run it's course. at least nebraska hired frost who had a grip on the offense of the future when he got there. 3 yards and a cloud of dust just doesn't work. Get mad, mumble under your breathe but the TE and FB positions rarely matter in college football. Too bad it took Harbaugh 6 years to figure that out.
I know that you could all cite instances and refute my statement but I hold firm. The COLLEGE game has passed Harbaugh by. His philosophies translate to Pro football.

Just saying! Think about it, though.

We took a shot with RichRod and it didn't work out for a lot of reasons, but the Hoke hire was a reaction to that- an attempt to return to our past (we had all of that great video of Hoke on the sideline as an assistant in 1997), that was in its way just as big of a mistake as RR. Harbaugh seemed like a sure thing, can't miss and it turns out he wasn't. Not sure where we go from here.

Sandy I get what your saying, but sometime I feel that the weather in the BIG van cause an offense that is based on the run 1st tradition, and power football. I would like to see a more downfield offense which you still can use in a Fullback or a 1 TE offense, on the other hand a RPO meens you need a talented QB which Michigan has not had here in 5 years, and they have not had a potent offense in awhile. Line is questionable, and the W/O are mediocre at best

I would argue that it WAS working. 3 wins. Then 5. Then 7. The blowout bowl loss was the problem.
Hoke comes in and wins big with RRs guys. That says something to me. IMO RR was very forward thinking for college football, he just didn't embrace B1G and UM football culture and that didn't sit well with people. RR was in on some really good recruits that were big time stars before they went to the NFL. I think if RR had two more years (like Hoke and Harbaugh) he would've been knocking on the door of a B1G championship.

I agree except that the bowl loss was not the final straw. I have been told that Brandon had decided to fire him after OSU and that the team knew that well before the bowl. Brandon had discussions with several team members. Brandon was actually hoping we didn't win the bowl, because the loss made it easier to sell the firing.

I also remember hearing or reading this somewhere. Brandon really tried but turned out to be a big piece of that whole problem.
