Don't know (fully) about that, Joe. Your point is taken, but I'll bet there were only a very few, if not just that 1 (SM), who honestly knew they were headed to Michigan. After all, by far the state producing the most of them
was Ohio, and we all know what sugarplums dance in their heads (at least at some point in their youth). As for the others, kids from out of state (MI) probably ruminated on several possible destinations. And for the native-Michigan kids, some of them likely (1) thought about MSU, or (2) thought about leaving home for their college career.
So, not sure I'd say it's incredible, or even that highly dubious.
