Just saw that, but he is not rated as far as I can see.  However I do not doubt that he is a 4-star as he is from IMG.

So, this kid who is maybe 16 and just finished TENTH GRADE is thinking that, for right now, at least, he might go to Michigan? Do I have that right?

This is the cycle of recruiting. 2017 kids just reported. Gotta stay on your 2018 commits to keep them committed and also continue to work on top 2018 dudes. All the while building relationships with 2019 guys and even younger.

What typically happens woody, a coach goes to see player a as a senior. While there they see player b making plays all over the field. They look into the kid and find out he's a freshman. They offer the kid a schollie.

Recruiting is similar to news. The first person to get there or report it has the upper hand.

I just prefer the word declare, as in "so-and-so declared he will attend Michigan in 2020 (or whenever)" as opposed to "committed" (subject to change, which is no commitment). Just a linguistic pet peeve from a Michigan-trained journalist (and, don't even get me started on "upcoming", the correct word is simply coming! -- or, currently the phrase "as of late" rather than "lately". Would one say "as of recent"?).

I'm glad that I retired that name but for a different reason. Ironically it would actually be more appropriate now.

not sold on this particular kid but it allows a seamless transition to my Georgia recruiting point. I've said it before (go back and check my posts) and I will say it again, the state of Georgia lets more talented kids get away year in and year out than probably the next top 3 states combined. if UGA could consistently lock up the state's top 10 year in and year out then they would be a dynasty that BAMA would have to bow down to.

Solomon is an easy fresh example but do yourself a favor and look back 10 years and see their top recruits that left the state. It's mind blowing.

You're back! That's great, now I don't have to try to do it anymore. As you can see I attempted to keep the format the same. Unfortunately the content of my posts was lacking compared to yours but we all knew that there would be a substantial drop off from your posts to mine.

Chris Hinton, ***** 6-4, 265# DE from Georgia says he's going to Michigan. Whether he actually does or not, it's great to see Harbaugh and Co. making noise down south.

Let me get this straight, a Jr. in High School says that he "might" go to Michigan?

That's what I said, "whether he actually does or not". Maybe he won't. Maybe he will. The point is that Harbaugh's reach is extending south, to the ultimate benefit if Michigan football.

Hinton will sign with Michigan. too many ties. I'd challenge anyone on any board for any bet. He will be blue on signing day. I know a little something about this. read my last bbq post. I called it there too.

I think and hope you are right. I am glad he declared he's going to Michigan in two years. I just don't believe in using the c-word in these situations.

in related 2020 recruiting news.....

his brother Myles (2020 sure fire 5* #1 OT) just got a CB to MICH from Steve L today on 247.

Chris is currently the 9th overall player in the 2019 class, his brother Myles has a REAL shot at being the #1 overall player in the 2020 class.

I know 2019 and 2020 are a LONG way off but the Hinton's connection with Harbaugh is too much to overcome at this point. Both of these kids will be at MICH barring a major major development. I agree it could happen but I'm sticking with my guns and saying it won't.

Also, I will continue to say that Georgia lets more kids leave the state than any other state in the nation. By the time the 2020 class closes Michigan will have signed 3 of their top 15 overall recruits in that 4 year span. Impressive.

Saw Barnhart play in person last year . Wasn’t impressed in the slightest. Heard he has shown really well in camps so I will reserve judgement. Also I am absolutely NOT a fan of joey Velazquez. I am excited about Ojabo. I would love to get that kid onboard. Big CB for a 2020 qb today. Harbaugh plucking kids out of the peach state makes my heart smile.
