Marching band will NOT be in Dallas for Bama game...?!?!?!?!?!

All the dollars we're getting from playing in this game we can't afford to send the band?

I call bullshit on this one.

And it truly pisses me off.

This was just released 10 mins ago or so, and the Twitter storm is already crazy. People (including myself) tweeting to Dave Brandon how ludicrous this is.

Got to have the band there playing our favorite songs!

With the marching band, rivalry games have been automatic road trips since the beginning of time and we have games at South Bend and Columbus this year. I don't think the band has ever made 3 regular season road trips. That would be very costly.

It will suck not having the band for the Bama game but I'd rather have them be at Notre Dame and OSU anyway...despite how dangerous it is for them to be in Columbus with America's worst fans.

I always assumed we sent the band to every away game (granted the opposition allows us sending our band)??

Guess I was wrong about that...

Either way, this pisses me off.

We even have seats for the MMB in the freaking contract!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any games played in South Bend, East Lansing and Columbus are automatic road trips for the band. That's usually it minus the bowl game. We play at MSU in odd numbered years and we play at ND and OSU in even numbered years. If this were next year, it might be easier to send the band to Dallas since it would be a second road trip. In years past whenever Notre Dame was off the schedule or it was an odd numbered year, the band would usually get a second trip to a non-rivalry game like Northwestern, Illinois and usually Penn State. Then the Penn State game got moved a year off so trips to Happy Valley stopped.

I agree with you that it sucks, especially since Alabama will be bringing their band. But it would be costly. I think the only way the band could go to the Bama game is if some rich alum makes an insane donation for that specific purpose like when OSU took their band to Texas in 06.

Wow, was never aware of the OSU guy/donation....or the logistics behind the MMB on away games. 'Preciate it, great stuff as always.

I agree I think it will get done. Would not be surprised if an alum steps up.

I sure hope someone, ANYONE, wakes up and gets this crap fixed! I am down in Alabama, and I am soooo frickin sure I will catch a bunch of sh*t over this...all the way to 1 Sept even if the decision is changed!!! Unbelieveable.

Okay I have the Ans. Have the Band put on a concert charge 5 to 10 dollars as a Donation. would make enough for the rooms and such and then Bus to Texas.

I have another idea. Set up a dunk tank, put DB on the plank and charge $5.00 per throw. You would probably get enough money to fund the band through the next 5 years!!!
