Re-post of an mlive post:
Prior to Mich, Hoke had two successful seasons: 12-2 at Ball State and 9-4 at SDSU.
1) At Ball State the featured running back was Miquale Lewis, 5'6'', 184 lb who rushed for 1736 yd. The QB was Nate Davis, a mobile QB who extended plays by scrambling, allowing receivers to get open, he was also a little bit of a running threat.
2) At SDSU the featured back was Ronnie Hillman 5'9 1/2", 195 lb, 1532 yd. This time he had a pocket passer in Lindley.
The defense used was a 3-3-5 under DC Rocky Long.
Then he goes to Mich and it's "we will feature man ball, " Stephen Hopkins, no ...Thomas Rawls, no ....Derrick Green. We want our QB to stay in the pocket. A 3-3-5 defense? That's something only that idiot RR would even suggest.
Brady was sold as an image to the Michigan fan base as presenting a specific kind of football that they identified as "Michigan football." Everyone said "we're going back to Michigan football."
When the only concern should be winning football.
