two games in and all is as expected ... two blow out wins against totally inferior opposition ... first off Speight , he has been very good and has great stats ... I will feel more comfortable when I see these stats against PSU and Wisconsin ... the WR and TE play has been great , no surprise ... Perry has taken a step forward from last season and that bodes well ... McDoom has the AC feel to him , electric with track speed , imagine when he refines his route running ... well the OL is the OL ... great again at pass pro but still woefully inadequate in run blocking ... still need two more Harbaugh recruiting cycles to get back to the great Meechigan lines of old ... the running game inconsistent as ever ... bless his heart Deveon will run through a wall for you , but after 3 full seasons he still has brutal vision, running with his head down and not seeing the seems to burst through ... Issac seems to to be focused and determined and Evans has great potential and the long absent break away speed ... my only critique of Jim is the constant shuffling of the backs ... it seems that they get two plays at best then rotated ... have never liked that ... but who am I but a Walmart wolverine from Canada ... GO BLUE !!!

In the O-Line's defense, Central Florida had 8 and 9 guys in the box. That's why Wilton threw for 300+.

At least we didn't just keep trying to run through them no mtter how many they put in the box.

Good rundown Bo. I share your concerns and positives. I've watched each game twice and as generally accurate as Wilton has been he has missed two deep balls, one in each game which were under thrown. It also looks like he has to use more effort on longer passes than either O'Korn, or Morris for that matter, in pregame warm-ups.

I hope that we do have the opportunity to get the back-ups more snaps in case we need them.

great point Joe about stacking the box by UCF ... still back in the day when we passed barely 10 times a game , our line blasted huge holes against stacked Ds, so it can be done ... mind you it was great that Jim aired it out because of UCF selling out against the run ... shoes good point on Speight, like I said State and Wisky will tell a lot about him , though he showed great poise in the pocket against pressure ... this schedule is great in that it gets harder each week and presents a greater challenge for the team ... GO BLUE !!!

I think we will find out that Colorado, much like BYU last year, isn't as good as advertised.

That's what I've been thinking, Fish.  And it's getting tiring hearing the 1994 "reminders".  No way in HELL this CU team has the talent (adjusted for 22 years of human growth, athletes, etc.) that '94 Buffs squad did (which finished No.3 in the polls, at 11-1). No "improbable pass completion" on the last play of the game will save them this time.

Also--no way in hell that 1994 Moeller squad had the talent, the experience, or the coaching of this U-M unit.  My call:  M 34, CU 17.  They'll score on us, but not nearly enough.

By the way, "BO"...NO team can run against an 8- or 9-man line IF the opponent's talent level is commensurate (or even close to it) with your own. To our credit, as JOE pointed out, we didn't try to---took the mile-long passing lanes UCF gave us.  As I read your line to that effect, Joe, I couldn't help but think of a "legendary" U-M coach who often TRIED to do just that (keep running on 8-man lines).  I'm old enough (as you all know!) to have seen, as a student, the 1972 Rose Bowl (12-13, Stanford) and 1972 OSU game (11-14)...two friggin' times in which OSU stacked 10 in the box to win goal line stands against stubborn old "Little Woody".  (Sorry for the jab, Bo2.0, but I was never sold on the original Bo's coaching prowess...not offensively anyhow).

Great points by Joe and Mike. I don't think we'll see a 27 carries for 27 yards (PSU game in ?), under this staff because if we're only getting 1 yd a carry, we won't be running it 27 times

I would love to see us run the ball down peoples' throats but it sometimes isn't feasible.

Also we have what I consider the best receiving corps in America. I know there's probably some better but I think we hold our own against everyone. I love seeing our guys running free in the secondary!

Regarding Michigan O-line that "back in the day...blasted huge holes", remember that those Ds were a lot smaller in the early Bo years. As I recall, 250# was considered big.

Everyone was smaller. We had a great nose tackle- called middle guard in those days- 1969-1970 named Henry Hill who went about 205. He was very quick and difficult to block though.

A guy from my home town name Jim Czirr played center for Michigan in the early 70's. He was 250# MAX.

Joe, he was at most 230...I got to chat with him during the offseason 1972-73 while I was (for my work-study job) in charge of the
Intramural Bldg.'s weight room!  Great kid, Jim Czirr. Very likeable. I distinctly recall him telling me and another regular there that he
went 220 at the time (only a soph., though).  This was about a month or so after the 1972 OSU debacle (two goal line stands I hinted
at earlier in this thread negated our 350-190 yardstick advantage)...and he related to us that Bo "Had apologized to us underclassmen
[players] for his "strategy" in that game!

Shoes' point about everyone being smaller back then is well-taken.  No "holes" were blown, to any appreciable degree, by
Bo's offensive lines in the Rose Bowl, against physical USC and Washington teams of the 70s.  (Even Stanford, 1971, had two future
All-Pros in DT Greg Sampson and LB Jeff Siemen...and it showed in the result).

Long story short:  I could not have said it better than you (Joe):  it is a refreshing relief to see our coaching staff more than willing to
take what the opponent gives us (e.g., UCF's 8-man lines...and, consequently, only three DB's to go one-on-one with our equal-of-any
WR/TE corps). I would be overjoyed to see all our remaining opponents stack 8 or 9 in the box 75% of the time!

great points by all ... as for wanting the rest of the teams to stack the line 75% of the time ... well , let's remember Speight has faced two atrocious defenses ... he has a long way to go, he has yet to consistently hit the long ball ... we won't win the tough games without the OL and running game upping their game ... GO BLUE !!!

No problem, Bo 2.0 is reflective on Coach Harbaugh changing the culture at Michigan. It doesn't really have much to do with X's and O's. 2ndComing also was supposed to be reflective of that. Problem there was the ineptitude of Coach Hoke. Great guy, shitty coach. I'll admit it, I was wrong on my initial impression of Coach Hoke. My bad, thank God that I have no real input on who coaches....

Well mike, I though he was smaller but I didn't want to under-exaggerate. His entire family was very nice. I knew his brother Karl.
