| The eternal pessimist in me says that we will probably lose this game. I am hoping though that Michigan at least plays a solid contest, both offensively and defensively so I can have some hope for the future. Sometime I do wonder why Seniors play in these game because they always talk about how these game are building for the future, but then I realize that these game are actually rewards for how good the team play this year. God luck and GO BLUE. Happy new year _________________ "HAIL HAIL MICHIGAN" Wanted John Harbaugh but I'll settle for JIM WITH AN ENTHUSIASM UNKNOWN TO MANKIND GOOO BLUE The Curse of Rich Rod

| Best way to stop Michigan offense is to let them into the red zone. | |

Hutchinson did actually commit a penalty. Ya can't fault the refs for calling it. _________________ 'eggo denoted me a First ballot Hall of Famer! - sandyeggo_blue wrote:

| I for 1 will be happy to see Patterson graduate. He miss so many open receivers and he doesn't find wide open receiver, and today he is being out played by a 2nd string QB. _________________ "HAIL HAIL MICHIGAN" Wanted John Harbaugh but I'll settle for JIM WITH AN ENTHUSIASM UNKNOWN TO MANKIND GOOO BLUE The Curse of Rich Rod

Hutchinson did actually commit a penalty. Ya can't fault the refs for calling it. No he didn't. He: 1) Did not hit him late, his momentum could not be stopped mid-air, 2) Did not take out his knees 3) Did not hit him in the head or with the crown 4) Did not land with his weight on him, he rolled over him. No foul should have been called. The announcers including the referee /rules expert agreed.

| Since we were steamrolled the play didn’t matter, luckily. Too slow. | |

| Woody and Shoes, I tend to agree with Shoes' analysis on the Hutchinson foul---though perhaps that's homerism on my part.
Artist and Bo2, indeed 'Bama had more speed, in particular that insanely-talented WR Jeudy (in the sky).
But no one will convince me I'm wrong to say that, to the greatest degree, what cost us the game was Patterson's pathetic inability to [accurately] throw long. Not 70-yard John-Elway-type bombs, just 35-40 yards downfield. How many times had Collins or Bell broken open---or at least had a step---and the ball was overthrown? And how many times---as the announcers, who I felt were excellent and impartial, pointed out---was one of our WRs ULTRA-WIDE-OPEN, and Patterson either didn't find him or was hell-bent on running it himself and didn't look for him???
Bowl-layoff rust on SP's part? That sure didn't seem to hurt Mack Jones' deep passing any...

Mikie I totally agree with that assessment, when you look you see guys wide open or breaking open and he misses them, I think Harbaugh doesn't want to admit that, because he wants Shea to be the man, but I think that Shea missed to many receivers, I also for one think he missed some opportunity to take off and run when the plays broke down. Late in the game he took a sack that cost them a chance at a FG. _________________ "HAIL HAIL MICHIGAN" Wanted John Harbaugh but I'll settle for JIM WITH AN ENTHUSIASM UNKNOWN TO MANKIND GOOO BLUE The Curse of Rich Rod

Late in the game he took a sack that cost them a chance at a FG. Shea was by far the biggest part of the problem. Harbaugh may have incorrectly assessed the talent at QB, but it wasn't because he "wanted Shea to be the man." Much as we hate Mich losing JH hates it more and he would play whomever he thought gave us the best chance to win. Again, maybe he was wrong in that assessment- I do not know.
