You may remember Phil Knight, of Nike fame, being one of Joe Pa's most vocal supporters. He spoke at his funeral and was very adamant that the blame fell on PSU's administration not Joe. Phile swallowed a lot of his pride today after the Freeh report came out. Nike immediately removed Joe's name from their Child Development Center. I think it is very clear what Joe's legacy will be.

I saw that, and was happy to see that Nike had done that.

At the same time, in Knight's statement released yesterday, he still tried to sidestep the blame away from Joe a bit, imho.

Either way, the action Nike took yesterday by removing Paterno's name shows how that company (and specifically Knight) truly feel about the situation.

In no way is the situation excusable but I think that Nike's action was purely motivated by finances. That is to say they knew that doing that would do a lot of damage control.
